Even more strange is why are people fighting over a season that no one cares about? This year AND next year are whatever-it is about finding talent(in system/trades/IFA/Draft) and if they win cool

Furthermore, I’ve been explicitly saying since the middle of spring training that brinson doesn’t have the plate discipline yet to be in the majors already, coupled with his service time making it absolutely idiotic that he is up here, so him struggling and you acting as if I expected him to be a star right out of the gate when you’ve already read (albeit likely poorly) my posts on him is as disingenuous as it gets, but what else would you expect from someone trying to troll on a relatively inactive marlins message board only after losses in the first year of a rebuilding process. Some exciting ass life you sure got there dude

I’ve quite literally explicitly stated multiple times brinson isn’t a star, nor was he expected to be. The point of the yelich deal was to get multiple cost controlled top 100 type talents, and they did that. Brinson doesn’t have to be a .900 ops guy to be an all star caliber player cause he is already elite defensively.

And I wasn't the one that made a big deal about this guy when he was traded here, it was the Marlins themselves, as media report after media report had them talking about Brinson and how he was going be such a great playr and how he was a local kid (as if that means anything other than it was supposed to mean folks here are supposed to care more about him. and thus come to see him).
So you can call me what you want. We could have had a solid major leaguer that had a history of being able to hit in MLB and instead we got a dude that can't hit his weight and we are supposed to care about cause he's a local kid.

So it's not just this and next year. I think it's going to take at least until 2021 to field a winning team. The trades so far have yeilded less than spectacular retruns and now we have to develop players from our draft because of a wasted trade that yielded not much in return on the most freindly contract.

That’s great and all, aside from the fact that you’re building up your own straw man and shooting it down and acting like you’re so damn smart by dismantling an argument that no one is making or has made. No one has ever said we got him or that we needed to get him because he is a local kid, that just so happens to be the case. Correlation does not equal causation. He was a top 30 prospect in baseball and an already elite defensive cf and that’s why we got him, not because he is local as you are claiming. But what else would we expect from you when you appear to have mastered the whole “outrage based on a straw man argument” thing

If he can get to a low .700 OPS, with the defense, and plus base running, he's going to be a really solid regular. Cameron Maybin has averaged 2.3 WAR over 650/PA for his career. What I'm saying above is a "better" Cameron Maybin, so a 2.5-3 WAR player club controlled for 5 years is a pretty solid starter.
It's not what you trade Yelich for by any means, but that's still a solid player and there is the hope with Monte and Diaz.

Then you should probably change from responding to everything he says to NOT responding to everything he says

Note quite 1/4 BB/K, but just saying. A 1/4 BB/K white whale is out there somewhere.
And Brinson is light years beyond The Big Cat defensively and base running

My strong suspicion is if you add Anderson, Brinson, Rojas, Urena, Ca. I think the enjoyment you are getting out of poking some people here is dramatically outweighed by everyone else not really caring.

Accordingly, your logic is dramatically flawed unless you think Anderson, Brinson, Rojas, Urena, Ca. Smith, Garcia, Steckenrider, Wittgren, Tayron, etc. are mediocre AAA players so the mean stays the same. I think that's a tough sell considering Anderson, Urena, Ca. Smith, and Rojas are on pace for 2.5 WAR seasons, the rest are clearly positive bullpen pieces, and who knows with Brinson but I bet he'd be one of the best players in AAA if he was demoted.
Basically, this hypothetical Marlins team would be the 1927 Yankees of AAA and the debate would be would they lose 35 games. If you're going to troll, be a better one.

Once a few veterans are traded, that means the mediocre AAA roster gets promoted and fills in the pieces around Anderson, Brinson, Rojas, Urena, Ca. Smith, Garcia, Steckenrider, Wittgren, Tayron, etc. PLUS the trade results. Realmuto/Bour/Straily/Castro/Barraclough/etc. is going to bring back A LOT, presumably multiple players MLB ready in AAA or higher.

That's going to be a 3 WAR player if he plays elite defense. Especially in CF as let's be real here, hopefully Sierra is never a starter.
That's not worth Yelich, but if Monte or Diaz work out, that's pretty solid work.

Glad to see peters go down for despaigne. No need to keep him up here when he can be starting every 5 days. With his injuries from last year his biggest thing this heat needs to be just accumulating innings and experience, not pitching in blowouts rarely
