Youre just whatever the opposite of a blind ass homer is, just a consistent negative presence who i have no idea why posts on this board.

and from someone so cynical of the ownership, wouldnt them so clearly selling it next year be a positive for you?

Youre the only one acting as if we're all just sitting here acting like this team is great and has an unbelievable future. just because others see the benefits to rebuilding and doing it the right way for a team that has been criminally mismanaged given their market for years doesnt make us blind homers, it makes us realistic to what this teams future was before the trades and knowledgable about the business of baseball and why just about every team who decides to fully rebuild does it this exact way.

Newsflash, theyll likely bust on a lot of these guys, thats just how prospects operate. I think we're at a good advantage given that we had these kinds of assets to deal to replenish the farm system in year 1 of a rebuild anyways. we'll have 2-3 years of more trades, draft picks (likely a #1 pick or 2), and actually spending money in IFA (Tjfla posted today about us in all likelihood signing one of the better IFA arms). The fact that we were even able to acquire these 5-6 top 100 type prospects before we even played a game is room for excitement, not room for bitching when inevitably not all these guys pan out.
Its about continuing to churn through talent and actually operating and doing the rebuild like the small market team we are. And btw, im not sure why youre making Brinson out to be some guy that people think is a superstar level talent. Almost no one has said that.

Not calling him a bust after the first game of the year doesnt make him the 2nd coming of jesus. I dont think he is a star type player, i think the depth aspect of that trade was the best part of that trade given that we hopefully would acquire 3 good everyday players with 6 years of team control and a flier on a good looking arm.

Not me, I still think they could vie for that '62 NY Mets record.....it might be 35 wins.....it's bad, REALLY BAD.
lol @ 35 wins. They will still win at least 50 and likely 60-65 game.

Realmuto and Straily (their best position player and best pitcher) really skew that downwards at least 5 games, and Prado probably another game or two because he is not worthless and he would be taking all of Lee, Rivera, and all the ludicrous excess catcher PA. There is also presently a sample size issue because Brinson and Bour aren't going to combine to hit .160/.225./250 (.200 BABIP). But yea, with all of that happening, it becomes a 60 win pace team really quickly.
Wins and losses don't really matter much to me this year. It would be nice not to lose 100, but I'm mainly interested in:
-Anderson looks like he will turn into a longterm starter at 3B, which is fantastic
-Garcia and Steckenrider look to have taken steps forward
-Dietrich and Rojas are turning themselves into real deadline tradebait
-Not thrilled with Brinson, but if these struggles get him in AAA for 6+ weeks, that's a longterm win to get the year of control
I'd like to be able to add a positive Brinson anecdote, Urena, D. Peters, O'Grady, Ca. Smith, Richards, or whoever to that list, but it's been a dozen games. A lot of season left and hopefully a few more Anderson, Garcia, and Steckenrider positives keep happening.

Basically, for years we had a "myfilestore" issue wherein visitors from outside links (google, twitter) would be redirected to the myfilestore website. Upon a second click visitors would finally be directed to our website, but most people never made that second click. It's what basically killed the traffic on this website for years. People who were already here didn't have a problem, but as some of those regulars atrophied (Ramp, Beef, even newer people like thatnewguy) we weren't getting people in to replace them.
After years (literally - every few months I'd investigate this) I finally discovered that it was the number of new posts plugin that was compromised. Almost immediately after disabling that we started getting new members (namely Lee Stone, but also there was someone else who's posted a few times) and our twitter links work now without myfilestore. I've looked for a similar plugin but I can only find the exact same plugin which I don't want to risk again since I know it's vulnerable.
Another issue compounding the problem is we're running a pretty old version of vBulletin and the upgrade costs money (and wherewithal) we don't have - we've never paid for our hosting service except for a few "donations" here and there, which saves us close to $1,000 a year, because I have a friend who graciously hosts it for us. But it also means we can't rely on him to do time-intensive things like backing up and upgrading vbulletin (which he's not an expert in, regardless). The few times in this site's history we've done those things, we have asked for small donations on here to be able to pay him.
Anyway, that's the long story of why the number of new posts doesn't exist anymore. I miss it a lot too, and I'll keep looking for a similar plugin.Originally posted by Madman81Most of the people in the world being dumb is not a requirement for you to be among their ranks.
