Im not talking fire sale or your thoughts on it and i dont really care whether you believe in our ability to do it correctly, my entire post was about us being in a better place at the start of the rebuild than those teams and the fact that this franchise finally has a plan for the first time in over a decade.
and my whole point is that we are not in a better place. we've got worse ownership, worse front office people, and a worse market that carries with it worse resources. even after trading away tons of talent, you won't find our farm system in anyone's top half that i'm aware of. that's worse than at least half of all teams, and those teams don't have the least amount of major league talent in the league - we do.

there is no reason for optimism in marlins land. this place used to have 2 wheelchair bound fans. one died, and this organization killed the other's interest in baseball.

I mean youre entitled to your own opinion, but we dont have worse ownership or worse front office people. And again, im not comparing our farm systems to the top teams in the league nor am i saying this will be a quick rebuild, but as you continue to shift the focus from my point to something im not even contending or saying, our farm system is in a much better place than those 2 franchises when they started their rebuild.

And you can continue to ignore the point all you want, but having an actual plan that makes sense given the market we are in is beyond important compared to the way this franchise has been operating for over 10 years now and especially the last few years as it is now obvious in retrospect that Loria knew exactly when he was selling the team and was making win now moves on a team that had 0 shot of contending for at least the last 3 years. The process as of right now is the most important thing, and what they are doing despite how bad they are going to be is proven to be THE way to build a baseball team in this age of baseball, particularly in the market we are in.

So Paul Severino with the slip of the tongue (to Derek Jeter) "well you are the boss".....oops.....

Jeter still is trying to maintain innocence on the Rich Walz firing

Just turned the volume of the broadcast on and you guys are right about the similarities in Severino and Hollandsworth's voice.

Whispers to curmudgeon........ Gary Denbo and other front office members who were added and an owner who isnt forcing win now moves on a team with no shot of contending because he knows hes selling the team soon. Also, youre aware Mike Hill isnt the guy doing most of the draft work, correct?

Kolek over Rodon was a cheap ass move and their were also concerns about Rodon's health issues which turned out to be right because NC State absolutely rode Rodon's arm in a ridiculous way but the Kolek selection was also just more bad scouting and continued our love for guys from Oklahoma/Texas who do nothing but throw fast. Nicolino over Heaney was a bad move but that move in general is indicative of Loria forcing the previous ownership to continue to operate in a way in which small market teams shouldnt operate.

We consistently gave away prospects in short sighted move after short sighted move in which we were either foolishly and obviously buying high on guys while simultaneously gutting our farm system and also selling low on our own talent. You do realize we could have avoided the whole rebuild and fire sale or at least the Yelich and Ozuna stuff if we just continued to build from within and not continuously give up prospects and young guys with team control for guys like Latos, Haren, Rodney, Cashner, and the list goes on and on. The reason the previous core never won was not because we didnt have enough high end talent, although we didnt have high end pitching talent after Jose died, the reason was because we had zero organizational depth because of stupid short sighted moves where we bought high or gave away young talent that a small market team needs and thus we had no depth to ever survive any kind of injury. Its the reason we had that one month every fucking year where we completely shit the bed.

Nice to see some fight. We have no pitching at the ML level right now but when Prado and JT get healthy our lineup isnt bad at all. Anderson as a future piece is looking better and better.

It's you that want to ignore the point he was making....that we had better chips to deal than the Cubs or Astros had & we got less in return. And you keep trying to compare us to the Loria years, that is not what people are talking about....we are asserting that this team, is starting out in a worse position than both the Cubs & Astros did because of one big turd, Mike Hill. The Cubs & Astros both didn't have that humungous pile of dung to overcome

Glimmers of hope, and a whole lot of suck at the same time.

What point are you not getting that im not talking about the chips we had to deal to begin with. If anything that helps my point that we are in a better position on the first game of the rebuild because we had talent to deal to acquire more talent quicker than they did. You can say whatever you want about the returns we got and we'll find out in due time how we did, but we have more talent in our system than either of those teams did.

Here is the cubs top 10 right when Epstein got there: Rizzo who Epstein acquired right when he got there, Brett JAckson, Matt Sczur, Chris Carpenter, Trey Mcnutt, Josh Vitters, Rafael Dolis, Jay Jackson, Reggie Golden, and Hayden Simpson. Only 2 of them represented top 100 guys at the time.

Here is the top 10 for the astros at the begining of their rebuild: Cosart, John Singleton, Jon Villar, Mike Folty..., Paul Clemens, Delino Deshields, Tanner Beshue, Brett Oberholtzer, Austin Wates, and Domingo Santana.

My point is that given this is the first game, we are in a better position with more talent in the organization than those teams were, and even more important than that and more important than literally anything else in regards to the future of the organization is that we actually have a coherent plan as to how to build the team as opposed to following the daily mood of moron Loria. Also, Hill has stunk but i also have faith in Denbo as well as some of the other guys we've brought in to stick to the process and take the losing for a couple years while focusing on continuing the right way to build the organization given our market size and you guys really dont understand how important that is. We wont hit on every guy, but the right baseball business thing to do is exactly what we are doing.

                              - - - - - - - - - -

Not to mention another advantage compared to those teams is that we still have more ML talent to deal to continue to add quality team controlled talent when we trade guys like Castro, dietrich, Bour, maybe JT, Straily, and bullpen arms like Ziegler and Barraclough.

                              - - - - - - - - - -

Cabrera trade paying dividends 10 years later. Safe to say we crushed them in that deal.

                              - - - - - - - - - -

Side note, Schwarber being forced to play the OF sucks cause he's gonna lose playing time eventually given his fielding ability in LF and Rizzo having 1b locked down. Love his bat but with all the depth they have with their hitters he's gonna end up not playing as much as he should be if he was a DH like he should be or at the very least just playing 1b.
