This makes me question even more why the fuck we had to deal Arraez so early.

his swinging out of his shoes percentage is 100%. And he still cant hit lefties. They got rid of the wrong outfielder for Puk it would appear.

that's awesome, his OPS is .777, his WAR is 1.4 on fangraphs and 1.8 on bball reference, his wrc+ is 123, and he isnt useless against lefties, he's actually been better against lefties than righties this year.

Jesus sanchez has been here for parts of 5 years with an OPS of .720, he has a negative WAR this year on bball reference and .1 on fangraphs, and he has a career sub 200 average and .521 OPS against lefties. He hits the ball hard when he makes contact. Unfortunately he has bad plate discipline. When he makes contact it looks awesome because he swings so fucking hard.

I didnt think jj bleday was all that good so i was fine with the puk trade, but clearly in retrospect he can play and they gave up on him too early for the return they got of a mediocre reliever who is prone to blowups and cant start.

                • It can be argued that Jesus Sanchez is the unluckiest hitter in MLB in 2024.

And, yes, obviously trading JJ Bleday for Puk was yet another butt fuck by Kim Ng.

                  • Buster Olney echoed Rosenthal today suggesting the number number of teams looking to sell could be low with some unlikely teams contending for playoff spots. He also suggested teams could be looking to spend a good deal of value on RP. He mentioned Mason Miller, who hopefully the A’s will hold on to. But you’d think Scott will be in demand, even being a rental. The Marlins should also sell any RP they can get value on.

Hopefully Luzardo can string some good starts together and we can get a team to overpay for him.

Also, apparently Mish said to expect the Marlins to continue looking at younger prospects in deals, which is a ridiculous strategy, but would seemingly signal this build is for the longterm. I could see doing that with a Josh Bell, where maybe the upside is better on a lesser prospect. But for Luzardo and Scott you need to get players who are close and the risk is lower. At least at the top of the package.

it has been obvious for several months they are entering a several year rebuild. they got a 19 year old for berti, and the best player for arraez was 19. This is going to be a complete overhaul, and it will include obviously Luzardo, Scott, and Bell, and i would be shocked if Jazz is not dealt by the deadline. I personally find jazz to be overrated anyways so i wouldnt be all that upset depending on the return, but that's been the obvious direction. which is maddening, because if they simply retooled and just made the roster more balanced and spent some fucking money like a real franchise, they could have had a few year window of contention.

                      • edwards sent down. Thank god, he definitely needs some more AAA seasoning. Glad we can see some more of anderson at SS while we are 20 games under.

                        • mish with a laughable take of calling it a big time moment and the best night of the season if griffin conine gets called up and makes his debut at home. It will come and go like a fart in the wind. no one gives a shit about that. this team and ownership group have completely fucked any positive will this fan base has towards anyone. you could have dontrelle willis jr and miguel cabrera jr and no one would give a fuck.

                          • They're really going to keep Edwards down in AAA until they fail to get anything for Anderson at the deadline and then release him, aren't they?

there is as close to 0 chance as possible for Anderson to do something in the next 40 days that will overcome how truly terrible he has been for 2 straight years. I was fine with signing him because i thought he would bounce back, but it's clear he's done. it serves absolutely 0 purpose to continue to roster him instead of just cutting bait like garcia.

                              • Edwards sits behind wendle being fucking awful all year last year while he was incredible in AAA, and this year he gets to sit behind the corpse of Tim Anderson and something called otto lopez, who admittedly appears to be decent but what does edwards have to do to get a chance? This team cant even be bad correctly.

I would hate for this team to have to get rid of emmanuel rivera though. God forbid they lose him.
