    • Man what's July going to look like around here?

Some SSS news though (prior to tonight's game). Frankly, not a lot of good/interesting news but this is what we got:

      DLC

Launch Angle 15.9 (up 4 degrees) - For a comparable, Teoscar is 13.7 for his career. FG says 15-20 degrees is usually optimal range. This is a big development.
      Expected slash - .276/.291/.533 (.824)

Obviously needs to walk/stop swinging at everything, but that LA is going to play with his good hard hit rates if it holds. He does that expected slash, pencil in DH 2025 even with that OBP. We'll see if this is a bender or if he is finally going to turn into something new.

Expected slash (everyone is doing worse)

      J. Sanchez .261/.294/.450 (.744) - Remember these two play up versus RHP so these could be good platoon OF options
      Gordon .248/.290/.442 (.736)
Garcia .259/.276/.441 (.717) - Maybe not a complete zero? This is a solid bench OF hitting slash if he can do that even with the OBP. It is notably better than 22/23 performance wise FWIW. Maybe some fleeting hope here.

      AAA

      Bride .346/.493/.654 (.389 BABIP) - Maybe a bench/good optionable depth guy
Mesa Jr. .319/.373/.574 (.300 BABIP!) + 7.8% BB and K rate(!) - Pray to god this is the hitting break out we haven't gotten in 5-7 years

      A+

Mack .347/.467/.571 (.417 BABIP) - Promoted to AA after that. Pray this is also a hitting breakout
Cappe .333/.377/.456 (.419 BABIP) - Improvement from 2023, pray here too

xFIP Rotation - This is actually very solid as any Cabrera over achieving would be offset with Luzardo under achieving and is obviously without Sandy, Eury, and Garrett. Of course Max needs to get back up too.

      E. Cabrera 2.10
Rogers 3.55 - Will get a fortune at deadline if he's here in July
      Max 3.55 (MLB)
Weathers 4.24 - Take all day as SP5 or 6
Luzardo 4.36 (actual ERA is 2+ runs higher)

xFIP Bullpen - Optimistically the makings of a longterm bullpen

Faucher 1.34 - Please be good!
Bender 2.73 (.533 BABIP) - These two not as atrocious as it seems with the silly BABIP luck
      Nardi 3.62 (.483 BABIP)
      Hoeing 3.87
      Cronin 3.99

SSS everywhere here, but despite all the other bad news I'm ignoring in this post, I'd like to think this says they'll get two guys for next year out of DLC/Sanchez/Gordon/Garcia, get another one or two out of Bride/Mesa Jr./Mack/Cappe long term even if not really next year, the rotation is very set absent further injuries, and there is some bullpen arm talent around where maybe only 1-2 guys would be needed next year. Important to keep costs down there.

Bride: 1.042 OPS in 476 PAs at AAA, .524 OPS in 301 PAs in the Big Leagues.

This guy will have to prove he's not an Isan Diaz.

They all do, but the thing is, if they just get 1 bench guy out of "the horde" (Gordon, Bride, Brujan, Otto, Rivera, Pereda, T. Gray, Johnston), that's kind of all they need if we assume Burger, Jazz, Edwards, DLC, and Sanchez are coming back. It's just beating the drum Luzardo/Arraez/Rogers/Scott can turn into 5 guys for the MLB roster, and they'd have $30-50m to spend on 3-4 guys on top of that.

But what a fucking shit show right now. It's April 24th.

I imagine this is a 1 time through. Not that it matters.
