-Marlins probably got lucky with an extra 2-3 hits. Anderson in particular shouldn’t have hit that double (.90 xBA). Not good considering they were out hit as-is. But, Burger really hit the shit out of the ball and if this is an indication of what’s coming he’s going to be an absolute monster. DLC just missed a bomb on that longer fly out (12th) which sucks. A little too under it on the launch angle but he hit it his typical hard. I think that’s the kind of “out” the analytics sect of the front office is going to continue to focus on and keeps him in the lineup as that’s a tweak from a HR. You know, the constant comment if he can find the right swing. Hard to fathom Arraez went 0/6 too. I wonder if he’s ever done that before.
-Pirates were more unlucky than lucky hitting, but not by much. Basically, Henry Davis deserved at least 1 hit. 17 whiffs. Seventeen!
-18 swings and misses for Luzardo and 8 for Cronin who was basically a hero. Good omens for those two for sure. Would be great if Cronin is a viable middle reliever. He looked pretty good to me.
-Game probability is horrendous. Marlins win this one 80-85% of the time. This is likely going to be one of the tougher losses on the season in that capacity. Three double plays is brutal and that trend needs to really end. They led baseball in that last year with 159, which was 40 extra of a normal team. Cue, 1 run games regress to the mean and they won’t be 33-14 again. They effectively lost this game because of Garcia and Bride, who came up to bat three times (two of them were to effectively win the game), and the result was no runs and four outs.
the trade deadline last year was a pretty ridiculous success. bell and burger are spectacular. We desperately needed some pop in this lineup and those 2 fit perfectly. If anderson can have a comeback season and DLC gets shipped to mars, this lineup could be decent.

This is a great example of the type of post that shouldn't be in the In-Game thread. I'm really not picking on you fish16.
We can do this, guys. I have faith.
If there's a Marlins game on and we are discussing the game, it goes in here (or lou's post where he is referencing a specific Marlins game).
If I'm alone on an island here by all means let's put every post in one thread for 6 months
What in gods name is this fucking team doing? DLC hitting cleanup, and Jonah bride in, and Jesus sanchez out. I am all for platoons and making the most of matchups, but im also all for allowing your players to sink or swim. how is jesus sanchez ever supposed to be more than a platoon guy if he never gets an opportunities vs lefties? The guy had less than 50 PA's last year vs lefties, and he sits tonight for fucking Avisail Garcia of all people? Get this fucking guy off the team already.

My problems are:
FORTES HITS LHP (.858 OPS last year, career .750+ OPS). He's an excellent starter against LHP. He must play *every* game against them. With this lineup, Fortes should be batting.... 4th-6th against them. Bethancourt is an obvious bench today. That is a big miss. I get the lets get everyone into a game early mentality, but this was a brutal loss yesterday. Pitt has a righty tomorrow. Fortes should be in and Bethancourt going tomorrow.
I think Sanchez should be given some opp against weaker lefties and Perez is the kind of lefty that opp should come against. So I too would swap him in for Garcia here early season and you can then do a hard platoon later if he makes no progress.
I'm fine with Bride or Brujan given a shot here. They do have to play. Gordon has more to prove than Sanchez, so he can be the hard bench against LHP until he does something for one of these two.
I'd have done this.
DH Bell S (.360 OBP 2023 / .340 career vs LHP) < - Subtle OBP bump, neither is a good base runner
2B Arraez L (.346 OBP 2023 / .331 career)
1B Burger R
CF Jazz L < - Set him and forget him when he plays. Trust the additional PA will come versus a RHP reliever eventually. Trust him.
C Fortes R
SS Anderson R < -- He actually has an enormous LHP split (.850) for his career, and wasn't terrible (.715) last year
LF DLC R
3B Bride R
RF Sanchez L (or Brujan)
