YEAH BUT THE TRAFFIC IS BAD!!!!111111
the. traffic. is. bad. Getting to the stadium from broward sucks. just because you are ok sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour to an hour and a half on the most dangerous stretch of highway doesnt mean others are bad fans for not wanting to do that for this team to go to this area. What dont you get about that? I dont care about the price of beer or a hot dog. Ill pay for a hot dog, i dont really give a shit. Im not driving to little havana. You are willing to, good for you. Im not for this team, and judging by the attendance, im in the majority.

Here is one of the most absurdly overreactive but passionate marlins fans on twitter literally today talking about getting to the ballpark- https://twitter.com/TakesWereMade_/s...82645065204167

Again, your willingness to suck in exhaust fumes in bumper to bumper traffic for over an hour doesnt make other fans bad fans for not wanting to do that. I have season tickets for the Dolphins and panthers and i go to just about every game because it's easy to get to for me and i like the teams. I used to have season tickets for the heat and go to most games even with the drive because they were fucking awesome and the games were fun to go to and they have great ownership. Im not doing that for a sport that has way too many games to the point of devaluing every game and with an owner who doesnt give a flying fuck about the team's success to spend money.

Young adults in their 20s do want experiences and having some additional ballpark features may help bring some people out. The day to day crowds are probably more young professionals in Miami who don't have kids weighing them down, etc. And those people never got 1997 and 2003 on a big picture level so are they true longterm fans right now as they were 5 when the Marlins were winning the whole damn thing? The Rays are going with a 30k stadium, so maybe there is some place in the stadium the Marlins can sacrifice and give up empty seats for something unique and Miami that is fun. I know they have done this in LF already from day 1 and OF concourse more recently, but I don't think this is a bad idea in concept even if one wants to argue the exact idea fish16 is pitching may not be the best one and there is a better idea somewhere else in the stadium.

I think you're both right here, they should be drawing more based on the on field production, but they also need to be doing more and make it more of an event. Unfortunately, baseball alone isn't going to do it right now, but maybe they go on a 5 year contending streak and start earning public trust. Frankly, the Heat and Panthers are great examples for them. They Heat are always good and Heat fans stand by them no matter what as they trust the product. The Panthers have committed financially and became a winner, so people are into it. Rinse/repeat what is Bruce doing this offseason and is now the time?
I'm not opposed to reconfiguring some areas, I just don't think it's going to be some major draw that it's made out to be, that's all. I proposed earlier in the thread that it be put in the upper deck where the infrastructure is already in place for that type of setup. Though that is more out of the way.

Yeah, while we are in contention, I also think expecting an abused fanbase to show up all at once after 20+ years of bad performance and mistreatment is expecting too much.

I'll be dealing with that tomorrow afternoon - I was able to get some tickets from some family friends, so I'll be in rush hour traffic for the game - woohoo! haha

        • Sandy with a scoreless first, striking out one time major leaguer Jesse winner in the process. Unfortunately this will at some point end in a surgery in all likelihood, but he is an unbelievable leader for this team. He has taken eury and Cabrera under his wing and done everything possible as a horse and leader on the field and off for this franchise. What a trade that Ozuna trade ended up being.

I could not have been more wrong on that deal. I liked weaver and flaherty and thought sandy was an awful lead guy in that trade and wanted Dakota Hudson as the second pitcher instead of Gallen. Unbelievable job by whoever scouted that organization at that point

          • This is a really solid tuneup for sandy. Garrett Mitchell rehabbing for the brewers former first rounder, one of the best prospects in baseball Jackson chourio, Joey weimer, Jesse Winker. This will line him up perfectly if all works out well. He will be lined up for Tuesday against the Mets and the season finale against the pirates. Who knows how it will turn out, but after the bullpen game tomorrow night, I think if my math is correct, at least 6 of the 8 final games will be started by luzardo, Sandy, and Garrett, with the other 2 being Cabrera who is obviously hit and miss, but can have his moments. Given moore’s history as a starter, I would bring him as the starter for cabreras two starts as a 1-2 inning opener and hope Cabrera can get us to the 7th from there.

I think Arraez and burger should be back tomorrow as well. Who knows how this turns out, but at the very least, it looks like we’re going to go down with our best guys healthy

            • Ya, Sandy is ready. 2 of 9 games looking like a former cy young guy. A little different from the other option of a bullpen game or cuetos fat ass

I can understand the tear down and waiting a few years to spend. I don't blame Bruce for that. This should have been the last 2 offseasons though, but holy shit after *THIS* year where your best two players (arguably) have been underperforming and hurt (Sandy and Jazz), and you've missed other serious on paper contributors (Rogers, Segura, etc.), this is the moment we will forever know if Bruce is another Loria. I fully believe Jeff would go for it in free agency for 2024 with this team though, and just tell Larry, Mike, and David, we will unapologetically fire sale this shit off July 2025/2026 if it doesn't work.

Up to Bruce, but let's make the playoffs before the inevitable offseason bitching on literally the same issues.
Yep, speaking as someone whose fandom obviously took a massive step back, I've been waiting for Sherman to prove he's actually an owner worth supporting (because that's what we are doing by supporting the team: we are supporting the owner). I think this offseason is one of the most important in franchise history and will be a big part of if I make the jump back in fully.

To be frank I was pretty upset they didn't Jayson Werth a SS the past couple of offseasons when there were actually good SS FAs. It's a very clear hole going forward, and there were a LOT of FA options. Obviously never though it'd happen (and ignorant of if players would even sign here) - but it would have actually shown that they were willing to invest in this core, by making sure there would be a team ready when the core was ready. Now our core is ready, and we're getting a barely getting a positive WAR in totality from the position, and all the FA SS suck ass.

I am optimistic with the fact we spent money to get better players at the deadline, when under Loria it was always the opposite. Which to that point I'm not going to act like this offseason is the *only* one that matters, if options aren't there then they aren't there. But also is why you should snap up options of need before they're required, so that you have them when it's required instead of looking around with a thumb up your ass.

                          • In regards to the stadium, I live in Denver now and it's crazy the juxtaposition of the two teams. Both came in at the same time, both have sucked ass but the two WS clearly put the Marlins well in front of the Rockies.

Yet the Rockies have constantly had 2-3 times the attendance, because it's the best place to go drinking lol. Be out out in 80 degree weather, watch the sun set on the mountains, and oh yeah there's this thing called a baseball game going on too. Easy to get to and plenty to do both before and after a game. It's actually something that's really funny to me, getting on here and seeing people (rightfully) complain about attendance - the hard core Rockies fans here actually get upset because the great attendance means ownership doesn't see a need to change anything about how incompetent the team is ran (and ownership being blind to their own incompetency). Why bother having a good team when you're still getting 40k butts in the seats losing 100 games?

I have no input on what they could do to the stadium/area better - and there's a very clear difference between the summer in Miami and the summer in Denver and what things there are to do. But it is crazy to experience the difference between the two teams/stadiums/area when the two teams have a very similar history, and how one complains about how their bad attendance leads to a bad product and how one complains about how their good attendance leads to a bad product

YEah, we were all hoping the same because we could see going forward FAs at positions we need were thin. We'll see if they pull off some sort of trade.

The problem I have with it, is everyone's known about our positions of need for 2-3 seasons now, and they've still gone unaddressed.
