  • best players seem to be getting hot at the right time too now. Burger and bell had cooled of after a blazing hot start and Jazz had cooled off as of late too. With Hampson taking most of the SS starts, we really just have the C hole which isnt going away but if we can cut down the holes in the lineup by 50% for the last few weeks hopefully that goes a long way. Soler should be back this week based on his progress. I just want to see a home playoff game. This team isnt great but they are fucking resilient

    • great fucking win. This team is just flat out resilient. Kim deserves a ton of credit for the deadline. Deserves criticism in other areas, but fuck burger and bell have been enormous.

What a game to see live. I’m still in awe of Jazz’s MOON SHOT.

Huge series.
Yep, you save your best pitchers for when you need them.

I don't know why you are so militant about me wanting to push Luzardo to tomorrow, but enjoy your internal angertainment?

That makes up for that 2 hitter you saw a few weeks ago IMO. Can't believe this one and glad you were there for it.

            • Weathers had another good start in AAA last night too - 22 IP, 3 ER last 4 starts...... and the last 17 are scoreless with 18K and 14 base runners. He's up to 74.2 innings in the minors this year with a 3.01 era and 87 K. xFIP looks right around 4.00 eye balling it for the season which isn't great but maybe the Marlins are scaling him up with a better pitch mix with their voodoo magic. I think he will turn the corner and be useful in some MLB role eventually, but I'm still with Lee here that they should take him for a spin in the Milwaukee series (at least a 1 time through lineup appearance) as he has higher upside than Cueto or Hoeing. We'll see, but just mentioning this is a good development as they need some innings help likely coming.

Simply put, Weathers is pitching far better than any Marlin starter in the upper minors (AA and AAA). I would have started him over Cueto on Friday night. Now he's unavailable for the next four days.

                • We are one game behind the Cubs in the loss column.

42% to make the playoffs (essentially the same as Reds)

They have off days on 21st and 25th so they don't need a 5th SP until 12 games from now.

Or they can just work in Weathers for the 22nd and get everyone some extra rest. I hope Cueto has made his last start and is just going to be mop up or desperation.

honestly the first wild card spot isnt either if we can get some help from the braves against the phillies the next few days. seems like each one of these teams going for all 3 wild card spots are fairly mediocre to just above average. the quality of the wild card contenders in the nl is way lower than in the AL. which works for us.

I'd venture to say the best since 2003 and 1997, which is pretty sad for us, but what a series.
