unbelievably lucky. this team realistically has no business being this close to a playoff spot but somehow we are. feels like we have had an absurd schedule with almost no breaks other than the 2 nationals series for months now while the reds, dbacks, giants, and cubs feel like they are playing the rockies, royals, pirates, and a's nightly. Maybe we get lucky with the braves this weekend and they do a lot of resting given they just clinched the division. Not holding my breath for a good weekend though with cueto and a bullpen day scheduled.

      • They should push Luzardo to the Mets series and just throw in the towel on Atlanta. Cueto, Whoever (Weathers prayer?), and Cabrera. Good luck guys.

They could line them up like this from there and maximize the 12 games they can actually win with 9 of those starts being Luzardo, Garrett, and Eury, with the rest Cabrera/bullpen and maybe Sandy sneaks in at the end.

        18 NYM Luzardo
        19 NYM Garrett
        20 NYM Eury
        21 OFF
22 MIL Cabrera + fresh pen
        23 MIL Luzardo
        24 MIL Garrett
        25 OFF
        26 NYM Eury
        27 NYM Cabrera
        28 NYM Luzardo
        29 PIT Garrett
30 PIT All hands on deck bullpen day OR Heroic Sandy Appearance
1 PIT Eury's final start to make the playoffs if needed

And Luzardo and Garrett are lined up normal rest for the playoffs FWIW.

Ride and die with this and just hope Atlanta falls asleep for a game IMO. Really no margin of error and you gotta win 10 more here on out.

throwing in the towel on 20% of your remaining schedule seems like an awful idea when you are .5 out with 15 to play. play your best when they are scheduled to pitch and let the chips fall where they may. accepting a sweep or hoping to just get lucky while actively putting yourself in a worse position to win is a complete loser mentality. pitching him on schedule on sunday also allows him to potentially throw in the last game against pittsburgh on just 1 day shorter rest as opposed to 2 if needed. way overthinking it.

          • just saw the stat that our bullpen is last in the league in allowing earned runs the last 10 days at 27. 27!

Everyone is tired from overuse. The SP aren't going deep enough and/or are on innings/pitching counts/already at career highs, and the bullpen is having to absorb that and being overworked.

              • angel hernandez had the worst ump game in 5 years yesterday. got 16% of his called balls/strikes wrong. 0 repercussions whatsoever. Will be right back umpiring this weekend. How they are not planning on having robo umps yet is beyond me.

                • braves are starting every single one of their players the first game after clinching the division as we yet again start wendle and stallings in our 8 and 9 spots. Why?

You're acting like we haven't been starting them basically all year?

it just blows my mind that they keep throwing them out there. At least stallings sucks but you could say the other option isnt much better. But with wendle you have berti and hampson, who arent great, but at least bring more to the table. They keep throwing wendle out there against righties as if he is remotely successful against righties this year. hampson has a 770 OPS against righties this year in over 100 at bats. wendle has a .570 OPS against them in 250 AB's. Their reluctance to change and adjust with veterans is beyond maddening. There was no reason stallings was even tendered a contract this year after last year's pathetic display.,

                      • Of course the Braves are starting all their regulars. They’re playing the Marlins. This is a half click below their World Series for them

Robertson and Lopez as Marlins are now up to 24.2 IP with 24 ER. Great stuff.

142 DP and counting too, tops in baseball this year and that is # 1 last year with 14 more games to go.

                              • Skip just did a Don Mattingly and pinch hit for Jesus Sanchez. Then the Braves intentionally walked Gurriel.
