However, I have been thinking about getting Luzardo an off day/skipped start, as he likely needs one to manage some innings, and they have a good opportunity coming up. They should unload the pen today to help him with the off day tomorrow and Sandy on Friday. He can then max out against the Padres and take a long breather.

I'm hoping something like this and Cueto is effectively phased out.

I think this works for some innings management using off days, trying to get Eury some extra rest, and strategically pitching Sandy around the Nationals. It'll be really awesome if Weathers gets his shit together and they can add him for that September 3rd start and maybe go to a 6 man rotation (Cueto still in pen as longman) but never skip Sandy starting September 5th.

But ignoring the hysterics, he is certainly a top 13 bat in the organization. We all can name 4 guys we'd take over him today on the MLB roster. But he should be playing sparingly in the field. I imagine he is trending to mostly a DH bat next year and hiding Bell at 1B instead.

He is a horrific fielder and a flatly average hitter. That isn’t hard to find. That’s not a solid mlb player. 2.4 war in close to 1100 plate appearances is not super difficult to find. Even less at 2.2 with baseball reference war. He is one of the last men on the roster maybe on a good team
