I think it would be a big risk of him opting out and not finding a market and all of a sudden he's screwed like Profar (who left money on the table to opt out and he's totally flat lined). I think he sticks even if he has a big 2 months as team's will judge his stay in SD + first half in Cleveland. If he does look real good maybe the Marlins float him a $11.5-13.5 extension so he becomes a 2/$28-30 player for them as an incentive to not opt out. Maybe it''s guaranteeing him the $11.5 but great incentives on top of it. That would put Bell at a floor $70m in career earnings which isn't too shabby. He's already at the point where he doesn't need the money and should want to win IMO. Dare I say, the Marlins are a good landing point there to win with this pitching.
They have the money for this, especially if they do something like Rogers + Okert for a Joey Ortiz type and another young OF 2-2 package, and then get Arraez, Luzardo, Eury, and maybe Scott and Jazz extensions. I'm not too worried about Bell. If he opts out, that just means they have money for Hoskins, Soler, Teoscar, etc. Or maybe Santandar is adding to an Ortiz trade for Baltimore to shed money with a guy with 1 year of control, etc. Lots of options here.

GB% was 53.4 last year, this year it is at 51.7%. Fastball velocity is the exact same. BABIP is slightly higher this year. The biggest difference is the LOB%. Last year it was 78, this year it is just 68%. So teams are cashing in more this year which we saw throughout the first half of the year. Second half so far he is at 83% LOB so he has fixed whatever was going on with guys on base. Hopefully he can continue to be the horse we need for the rest of the year as i expect guys like Luzardo and Garrett to slightly regress the last part of the year with the innings they have pitched.
Luzardo and Garrett definitely need to be babied a little here on out. They are going to need to get big innings out of Cabrera, Cueto, and dare I say Weathers (and Hoeing?) to help this. Sandy chucking 7+ innings is going to really impact a bullpen trickle down here.
Has there been any news on Rogers being able to get back mid-September? I haven't seen anything in awhile but that would be REALLY helpful if they do stay in it another month.

This is a down year and he's probably going to have a 3.8 era over 200 innings which is crazy. He's fine. I think he was tipping pitches or over thinking it with some of those 1 innings blowups.

I'm a little worried that they fucked with eury. He is completely out of rhythm. I just dont know how you send him down with 0 plan. Id rather they just kept him up until his innings limit then send him down and not pitch him for an entire fucking month. Hopefully he regains some rhythm moving forward because he had no feel for his offspeed stuff either of the last 2 outings.

Luzardo has had 2 bad outings in a row but they also came against 1 of the best lineups in baseball and another lineup that has Stanton and Judge. If it continues for a few more starts then ill be worried. Garrett has bounced back after a rough patch in july so hopefully he keeps it up.
