  • Bullpen usage absolutely horrendous.

    • Anderson just made a Bo Jackson throw RF to cut down a runner

      • I’ll reiterate that there was nothing to gain but everything to lose by not trading Pablo at the deadline. Complete mismanagement

        • It worked out there, but this bullpen usage is baffling. Guy making his major league debut let's have him pitch multiple innings despite him being basically a one inning pitcher at AAA. Guy coming off several months on the DL. Let's bring him in with the bases loaded.

every year its the same with him. season falls apart, the bullpen pieces go up and down daily, and there is absolutely no plan or consistent structure in the roles. other than somehow tanner scott. make it make sense.

            • Lookin' at Tyler Anderson's career before joining the Dodgers this season. At age 32, he's suddenly a 2.80 ERA guy ... an entirely different pitcher than he ever was? How do the Dodgers accomplish that kind of crap?

smart teams see what players do well and utilize them to their strength. its why guys leave here and break out. we don't develop guys well nor do we play guys to fit their strengths to get more out of a team than the whole of their parts would suggest.

                • Edward Cabrera going 8 scoreless is very impressive. I went to bed after the 4th and he was already over 60 pitches.

If I’m the marlins Edward Cabrera never leaves the side of sandy. Just do everything he does and we have another ace. Just filthy if he can stay healthy and start going deeper in games like sandy figured out how to do after his first year

                    • Keeping Cabrera and Luzardo healthy is maybe the most important challenge facing the organization in coming years.

                      • The Marlins continue to be every opposing pitcher's wet dream. Now it's Cole Irvin, a contact pitcher until he faced the Marlins, with 11 K's. That's how many he recorded in his four previous starts (24 innings).

                        • Watching Trevor Rogers tonite. He was one pitch away from an immaculate inning in the first versus Norfolk. 10 pitches and three strikeouts swinging. He just needs a great start to get him going

Now five swinging strikeouts through two.

Perfect through three with seven K's, all swinging. Thing is that every strike is right down the middle and belly high. Must have movement or really explosive velocity.

The perfecto is over in the fourth. A walk and a hit by pitch put runners aboard, but Trevor finished the inning with two more K's. That's nine. He also got squeezed on a couple pitches that had the zone.

Two more swinging K's in the fifth. 11 total. Pitch count will probably allow just one more inning, but Rogers has been epic.

Rogers done after six hitless. 12 K. Wish he had been able to apply this work vs Dodgers tomorrow night ... instead of Hoeing

Was REALLY happy to see this. The single biggest disappointment this season (and there were loads of disappointments, almost nothing but) has been the mysterious loss of effectiveness for Rogers. With Eder, Luzardo, Garrett all looking good, the Marlins have the best crop of lefties around. As far as RHP go, Alcantara, Lopez, Cabrera and Perez aren't bad either.

Of note: De La Cruz has been tearing it up at JAX since his demotion. Jesus Sanchez has not.
