Do we honestly believe we are going to get 2 impact bats for Pablo Lopez and his 3.98 xERA?

My pure speculation is that the Marlins overvalued Pablo at the deadline and that’s why he’s still here throwing BP to the Mets once a month.
With that said, I’m probably a bit of a Pablo hater. I always saw him (me dreaming again) as our 5th starter once we had a healthy Sandy, Sixto, Luzardo, Cabrera/Meyer/Eury.

My view of our starting pitching is different than yours. I see Rogers and Eder becoming top three guys with Alcantara.Last edited by Lee Stone; 09-11-2022, 07:44 PM.

hopefully groshans can become something. i hope rojas goes next year, he's terrible. out of the top 11 guys for us this year in AB's, 1 has an ops over .700. It's cooper at .741. of our top 7 ab getters, only one has an OBP over .300. It's cooper again. That is unspeakably awful. They need 8 new hitters. Only jazz is a keeper. They need longterm solutions at C, 1b, SS, 3b, and all 3 OF positions along with DH. Just ridiculously pathetic 5 years into a rebuild. they have done great with the pitchers, but they have not developed a single hitter themselves in 5 years. we're all excited for Fortes, he has a .715 OPs, Lee loves leblanc, he has a .723 OPS and his BABIP is unsustainable. He is this years de la cruz to end last year. We all asked for several years now why lewin wasnt getting a chance- its because he cant hit. Just another unspeakably bad bust.
Ive been overwhelmingly negative about the team lately, but its deserved. Unless they sign a major SS, trade pablo for 2 major league ready hitters, and get huge rebounds from Soler AND Garcia, there is no path to contentiojn next year either. which is a damn shame because this rotation has serious talent, and rogers has even been encouraging to end the year. But if you compare what we're going up against in our own division in the phillies lineup with JT, Harper, Schwarber, etc, the mets with Alonso, Marte, lindor, mcneil, nimmo, and the braves with Albies, Acuna, Riley, Harris, Olson, Swanson, contreras, we arent even remotely close to a competitive lineup. Our 2nd best hitter would be our main competitors 7th or 8th best hitters at best. We could have 5 jose fernandez's or sandys in our rotation, you cant win with an offense like that. Next year is my last year with this franchise if sherman doesnt open up the wallet. They need at the very least 1 major free agent signing, a pablo trade, and probably another signing or 2 to even be remotely average offensively. As painful as it will be, this is not fun to root for. We dont spend money, we dont make the most of our money, and the franchise just doesnt give a fuck. they have one last chance this offseason before it gets really ugly here.Last edited by fish16; 09-15-2022, 10:28 PM.

there's something seriously wrong with our hitting here. latest example is corey dickerson. his career OPS by year before getting here: .775, .931, .869, .761, .815, .804, .906. then he gets here and in an admittedly abbreviated year and a half here, he gives us a .713 and .705 OPS. We trade him, he finishes in toronto last year with a .779 OPS, and now has a .756 OPS this year. This is not even close to the first person to do this. Something is seriously wrong with how hitters perform when they get here. Maybe its the lack of lineup talent around them when they get here, maybe its the ballpark, who knows. all i know is this is not just a coincidence. It's been going on too long here since they moved to this ball park. From Jose reyes, michael morse, etc, just one after another takes a dip in this uniform and ballpark. They need to figure it out ASAP. it could just be a complete lack of talent because JT, Yelich, Stanton, Ozuna, all have had success elsewhere, but it needs to change, because this team wont compete with a lineup that is not 10x better than what they have had for several years now.
