Another tough loss ... but highly entertaining. Cole tees up a hanging slider and our boy Alfaro does the rest. Tough execution on Susler's part, given that Alfaro swings at everything and can't touch a fastball up or a slider down or anything outside. Why didn't Mattingly leave Okert in the game? Why warm him up to throw just a few pitches?

Cabrera is improving but still a few weeks from rotation ready I'd say. It's too bad we'll have to absorb another loss with Elieser tonight at Arizona. Could have easily been Meyer making his first start.

I think Rogers needs to add another pitch or two for use with men on.

Maybe a cutter to use on rhb and splitter for lhb. Basically give him a double play weapon his fb/power slider/change combo doesn't really currently have.

I mean it's not just bad luck that we're losing all these 1-run games. If you were to build a team with the express purpose of losing close games, it'd be one with an awesome rotation, poor offense and shaky backend of the bullpen. Front Office is getting what they paid for.

exactly. For the 5th straight year they made no actual effort to bolster the back end of the bullpen. Relatively small amounts of money poured into a clear weakness could keep this team in contention, but yet again they spend as little money as possible and throw their hands up and wonder why they are consistently under .500 so early in the season. it's every fucking year.
