Nice basically “must win” game tonight.
Jazz was 9th in fWAR in MLB before his 3 hits tonight.

Sandy threw 57 pitches over his last 6 innings to finish 8 innings after it took him 43 the first 2 innings . His improvement since his first year or so with us in terms of pitch count efficiency and being able to finish off hitters has been unbelievable.

obviously guys have ups and downs throughout the season and its hard to not have a few guys hot and cold at the same time, but given how the pitching is performing, how soler and garcia are starting to look like major leaguers again, and how the schedule is a little lighter until the end of may, it would be really nice to see them go on a little run to get back to .500 or a little over.
Especially with Meyer coming up I think sunday based off how they have structured his next outing and when poteet's second time through the rotation will be, they need to take off or it will be another season around the .500 mark with no real playoff shot.
Soler for all his struggles still somehow is around .700 OPS with projections for 32 homers and 83 rbi's. If he can heat up and jazz can stay hot, with Aguilar and Garcia coming out of their slumps and Anderson being back, now is the time they need to take advantage of games with the nationals and the braves while they are still scuffling and go on a run here. Of course last time I judged their future performance based on their upcoming schedule they lost 6 straight 1 run games, so what the fuck do I know.

meyer pitching tonight for jax which would schedule him for sunday as his next start along with poteet's next scheduled date. They cant possibly not call him up for sunday right? Mish went on record yesterday to say the issue is not service time manipulation reason, so I cant imagine this is not his last AAA start.
Then when Luzardo comes back in what is reportedly not too long of an absence, we're running the 5 deep rotation we've been talking about for a while now. And then we have the ghost of Sixto sanchez and Cabrera, Perez, and Eder in the wings. No idea what is going on with Sixto yet again but hopefully we can get anything out of him. If he's healthy he would easily improve the closer role a ton.
Also, not sure what the hell their plan is with Lewin diaz or if they have one at all, but at a certain point doesn't the guy deserve an extended run at 1b? Cooper and aguilar are better hitters but he's not some AAAA player yet and they are treating him as such. Bring him up and let cooper and aguilar and him split time. But this issue is exactly why I wanted them to choose one of aguilar and cooper and let Diaz play 1b everyday. IT's great to have depth but at a certain point you need to see what your young guys can do. We're gonna have the same issue with Bleday and Burdick next year if Soler doesn't opt out.Last edited by fish16; 05-17-2022, 10:46 AM.
