2022 Game Thread

Cody Poteet was a joy to watch last night. Until the fingernail issue popped up in the fifth, he was about as efficient as a pitcher can possibly be. He could have a really good year.

I was wondering what happened as well. what the NBA and NHL did to south Florida sports fans last night was wrong. and not that they can know this so far in advance when the schedule is determined, but the fucking marlins are the one who will feel the effect most (proportionally) with their attendance on these nights the heat and panthers both play. I think there were about 74 fans there last night and I'm not sure what those 74 fans were even doing there.

I just hope this team can stay in it and compete at least until the panthers and heat seasons are over. Pretty brutal that its gonna be heat and panthers for the first 2 months of the season, and then the most anticipated dolphins season in at least 15 years for august and September and beyond.

I mean. To be fair, there are baseball games nearly nightly, so it’s not like they can schedule only on off days or when another local team is out of town.

it would be nice for playoff games though if the leagues could coordinate to not have games on the same day. The Panthers and Heat are going to be the same days for the whole current rounds/series. I don’t really watch the Heat anyway, but still.

anyone have an answer for why were still doing this castano thing? I didn't see the game last night because having 2 heat and panthers games the night before took about 7 years off my life and I needed some rest, but were we out of pitchers or something? why castano in the 10th? And why is castano up here at all. We have a bunch of interesting relievers in AAA who might actually be useful members of the 40 man above castano, plus no one is claiming castano on waivers if we DFA him. Grant dayton should have gotten a major league opportunity but I think he opted out of his deal the other day, Jake fishman has great numbers, not sure what is going on with neidert but he has earned an opportunity as a bullpen arm.

This front office is maddening because they do a really good job building bullpen depth by finding discounted pieces, but by not going to the last step of acquiring a shut down closer we've already seen the impacts this year. We should be over .500 by a number of games, and we would be if we signed any one of the quality relievers that were available with closing experience.

Interesting note on tonite's game: Aguilar, Cooper, Garcia, Sanchez and Soler are a combined 2 for 36 vs. Morton. Jazz is 6 for 15.
