of course we bunt with stallings. mattingly needs to go. its enough already. its terrible decision after terrible decision. and you just fucking know luke Williams will come up in a big spot instead of soler.

bunting is almost never the right call. giving up an out and expecting the player to put down the perfect bunt that doesn't allow the lead runner to get thrown out instead of just letting a guy get a hit is always moronic. you don't give up outs

I would have bunted, too. I agree taking Soler out was very dumb. But you have to bunt in that spot.

Stallings been giving up outs all year normally. It’s not like Jazz was up there. Stallings could’ve easily hit into a double play.

no you don't. you're giving up an out. the probability of him successfully laying down a bunt in the perfect position to not get the lead runner thrown out is lower than the probability of him getting a hit. you go from giving yourself 3 opportunities to get a hit to 2, with the very good possibility that the bunt will be unsuccessful. In the era where strike outs are more prevalent than ever and as a result the likelihood of a sac fly is lower than its ever been. you're giving yourself 50% less of a chance to get a hit.
