Holy controversy! Jazz 1 for 5 with no strikeouts versus lefties this season. The one hit was a two-run double. Soler has two rbi TOTAL. There's no defense for Mattingly on this one.
Hutton calling out pinch hitting for Jazz makes me smile.
Jazz is the face of the friggin' franchise ... how do you inspire fans with that shit?
Soler didn't start the game because he was 2-17 lifetime off Wainwright. That was a good decision by the manager. Unfortunately, Soler was 1-13 vs. lefties this year as well.
Apparently, Chisholm left the facility quickly after the game with no words to anyone. Seems like a predictable response. You know the old expression: If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
Without Don's bizarre/unnecessary shifts, the Cards would've only had like 2 runs. Further complicated it by taking out players "because" and that's not a good recipe. He should've never had his option picked up.
sandy's improvement year over year in terms of pitch efficiency and control since he first came up with us is remarkable. He went from one of the many guys around the league with good stuff but couldn't put guys away and couldn't go deep into games and now he feels like 6 innings minimum going into every start.

I wonder how much of that is him and how much is the front office. Donny doesn't seem to be the type to over utilize analytics to his detriment. In defense of yesterday, Jazz's error was a play he was playing right up the middle, he just blew the throw to first. the biggest thing for Mattingly is the lineup and in game subs. There is so much overthinking going on. The way they are handling jazz is horrendous. I don't understand how you don't give him an opportunity to hit lefties. when the alternatives are guys like berti, why are you not letting your most dynamic talent get at least an opportunity against lefties?
Also, lewin diaz is crushing in AAA and is 25. at some point I want them to choose between aguilar and cooper or split time with them DH'ing and Lewin getting everyday playing time.
garcia has been absolutely terrible. and once again umps making an impact when technology can easily tell us what a ball or strike is. its maddening and makes the sport unwatchable at times.
