No more flailing for Monte. He took three straight pitches right down the middle in his last at bat. All three on a tee, and he never flinched. He looked and walked back to the dugout, where tonight he will have to wear a mask at all times. It was one of the weirdest at bats I've ever witnessed. I can't imagine why he is back on the field again tonight.Last edited by Lee Stone; 08-06-2020, 06:52 PM.

a completely obvious point that we all already know but stands out every time monte hits- he is an absolutely enormous human being

All of a sudden a couple weeks into the year or schedule doesn't look as hard as it seemed. Red sox stink, Phillies, mets, nationals and braves all have injury issues, rays haven't impressed all that much. its not easy but its not nearly as hard as it seemed. especially at the beginning of the year,. A couple weeks into the year and it already seems like 2nd place is wide open in our division (I still think the braves pull it together but that soroka injury is enormous).
huge 3 games against the mets this weekend, first two are critical with degrom on sunday.

the veteran lineup additions are nothing special but just those decent-good 3-4 new bats in aguilar, Dickerson, villar, and cervellli are such a marked improvement over what they've been throwing out the last few years. we always talk about impact talent but surrounding that with capable vets and not AAAA players is also critical for good teams.
