6-1. unbelievable. obviously a very small sample but 1 or 2 stretches like this could get you into the playoffs by itself with how few games there are this year

In a season like this, his style of pitching could be valuable. The groundball/double play ball helps him be efficient. He can go 3-4 days in a row because he doesn’t throw many pitches. And we have 5 doubleheaders later on in the year so pitchers need to be efficient.

I know Monte has been brutal in the batters box but his catch was ridiculous. Very few CF’s get to that ball. And you gotta love the hustle on the play he almost broke the fence on.

am i the only one who has been wondering what the hell Mattingly has done with the bullpen the last few days? i get the situation is dire but just some truly weird/awful pitching changes

Mattingly has always been terrible with the pen. He trusts certain guys then abuses the hell out of them. This year the pen is gonna be big especially with tons of DH at home-they are gonna need ALOT of RH in the 60 man pool. Could see guys like Morin/both Josh Smiths DFA every week and Guzman/Holloway/Brigham optioned 2 times a week

They are set now but Boner and Christian Arroyo but got DFA.

If this run keeps up they I wouldnt be surprised if we started beefing up our 60 man pool. We got like 3 C and a few prospects who arent gonna be up this year-be interesting if they start removing these guys from pool and claiming then DFA guys to keep them in system "just in case". Probably prefer to have a Hanley/Jason Vargas instead of Will Banfield if they have 25 wins in Sept

Before people ask-u can remove guys from 60 man pool however once u do they can NOT come back on this year. Pretty much means they gotta leave Jupiter but are still in system

Going to be a bullpen game for the #Marlins vs the Mets tonight.

Humberto Mejia is being activated off the taxi squad. He'll start and make his MLB debut.

Jorge Guzman is being optioned and will stay with the team on the taxi squad.

It’s a bullpen game. You do realize this guy hasn’t pitched above A ball, right?

I hope Mejia does well, but the FO can't make any type of statement that they're putting their best foot forward with Sixto, Cabrera, Garrett and Rogers all sitting in Jupiter and Mejia getting the call instead. Pretty clear to me that the story with Mejia and Holloway getting the call is they're evaluating these guys for next year. My guess is their spots on the 40-man are on the line.
