Based on what we've seen from the pen this might be a theme for the season.

    • Alvarez came up big that inning.

      • I have no idea who can close tonight in the 9th inning. I guess it's going to be Nick Vincent.

This is our biggest 9th inning in 17 years. Somebody close the game.

This seems like a lot to ask of Vincent.

Nick Vincent came up huge there.

Get to 11-1 to recreate 2008 (or was it 2009?). Get Emilio Bonifacio and Mark Hendrickson back in here.

The bullpen's actually been pretty good somehow.

              • I mean on paper this team is nowhere near a playoff contender...but I said a lot a 60 game season is such a small sample size that honestly this was the team's best chance at pulling off something crazy and they may be doing it.

The short term signings seems to be paying off so far, Villar/Aguilar/Cervelli have been the guys outside of Anderson who are keeping a really bad major league lineup upright at the moment.

                - - - - - - - - - -

Eddy Alvarez does seem like the kind of scrappy player who will serve as a utility/last man in the lineup type for multiple years...he may not be a star but he'll be a fan favorite type.

I just love seeing them win a game with a guy who NEVER STARTED ABOVE A+ BALL started...another move on paper that has no reason to work but it has. If he can get this squad to be around .500 to end the season this will easily be Don Mattingly's best managerial season ever and very reminiscent of Girardi's 2006 year.

It's been a ton of fun watching my first season back as a Marlins fan rather than an insider for a change. It's also been fun to see some guys who have worked their asses off in the minors during the rebuild get an opportunity. Guzman from the Stanton trade, Sierra from the Ozuna deal, Diaz (before he opted out) from the Yelich trade. The team still BADLY needs one or two more A/A+ offensive talent but this does show how stacking your minor league system can pay dividends in the end (aka even after COVID they aren't running out total little league squad and can hang on any given day).

I think in the end the Marlins will settle around 25 to 30 wins, but in this season that may be good enough for a playoff spot anyway. They no longer need an unrealistic season to get there.

                • Alvarez is ridiculously overmatched in the batters box but that was one of the most amazing spearing of a kind drive I’ve ever seen.

This is all going to end, unfortunately (Run Differential ugh), but I’m really enjoying the ride. This season has been so much more fun so far than I had anticipated. And I’m getting to enjoy it with with my two young sons who have suffered with the rest of us as Marlins fans through the Loria disaster.

We have a shot this year. Our division doesn’t impress me. Hope you and your sons can enjoy some more wins together.

If this run keeps up they I wouldnt be surprised if we started beefing up our 60 man pool. We got like 3 C and a few prospects who arent gonna be up this year-be interesting if they start removing these guys from pool and claiming then DFA guys to keep them in system "just in case". Probably prefer to have a Hanley/Jason Vargas instead of Will Banfield if they have 25 wins in Sept

Before people ask-u can remove guys from 60 man pool however once u do they can NOT come back on this year. Pretty much means they gotta leave Jupiter but are still in system
I’d like to take a shot at Christian Arroyo. I think they tried to trade for him before when he was a prospect.

                        • Mejia reminded me of Pablo Lopez. Better curve than Pablo but lacking a change up, at least on this night. I hope Mejia gets the first home start.

Craig Mish reported that Six-ton Sanchez reported to spring training at 240 pounds, not good for a young man that stands a tad below six feet. I believe management is very disappointed with the situation - to the extent that nobody even discusses him.

Ya they did but doubful now. They have Forysthe,Sean Rodriguez and Alvarez for 1 spot already. Boner passed thru already

Didnt think I would say this in 2020 but Marlins have some pretty big decisions in next 2 weeks

Do they DFA Nick Vincent,Shafer,Hoyt OR finally cut bait with young guys? 1 think is 99% certain Adam Conley is gone. Lost his spot to Bleier

                            Bleier-Conley
                            Forsythe/Alvarez/Rodriguez-Isan
                            ?-Vincent
                            ?-Shafer
                            ?-Hoyt

                            Need to open 3 spots

Very likely we see 2 guys(Mejia/Tarpley) sent to taxi squad and 2 guys up but ya looks like Castano unless they claimed someone

Erlin got claimed by Atlanta but Chacin and 1 or 2 other SP types still in limbo

Vincent, Hoyt and Shafer look like keepers going forward...or at least better options than the guys they replaced so far.

Brigham, Holloway, Wallach, and Brinson seem like the best choices to DFA to open up spots for those guys. I would include Stanek too, but they seem to like his arm.

My guess is a Castano/Sharpe combo tonight.

Why don't we just release him already?
