It’s entirely possible I’m just misremembering it but I remember mish tweeting numbers that weren’t close to what it was gonna take to get it done

    • has there been any word yet on whether the DH for the NL is going to be a thing moving forward or if its just for this year. I hope they keep it, it's so much better not having to watch pitchers flail up there uselessly

      • No more flailing for Monte. He took three straight pitches right down the middle in his last at bat. All three on a tee, and he never flinched. He looked and walked back to the dugout, where tonight he will have to wear a mask at all times. It was one of the weirdest at bats I've ever witnessed. I can't imagine why he is back on the field again tonight.

I remember that as well. And that's not exactly the way to get the agent to talk to the team either.

It's supposedly only for this year, but honestly, even if we revert to non-DH NL next season, I see the DH arriving for 2022 after the CBA - it's an easy bone for the league to throw at the union (15 more jobs right away).

          • I think we're seeing why Yamamoto didnt make the team.

Excited to see Guzman. He finished really strong last year, it'll be interesting to see if he can carry that over.

            • a completely obvious point that we all already know but stands out every time monte hits- he is an absolutely enormous human being

am i the only one who has been wondering what the hell Mattingly has done with the bullpen the last few days? i get the situation is dire but just some truly weird/awful pitching changes

              • Guzman throws hard but every time I watch him pitch, he gets hit harder than he throws.

                • espn having sandy alcantara as our listed starter for tomorrow is a mistake right?

                    Yes, typical ESPN

                    • All of a sudden a couple weeks into the year or schedule doesn't look as hard as it seemed. Red sox stink, Phillies, mets, nationals and braves all have injury issues, rays haven't impressed all that much. its not easy but its not nearly as hard as it seemed. especially at the beginning of the year,. A couple weeks into the year and it already seems like 2nd place is wide open in our division (I still think the braves pull it together but that soroka injury is enormous).

huge 3 games against the mets this weekend, first two are critical with degrom on sunday.

the veteran lineup additions are nothing special but just those decent-good 3-4 new bats in aguilar, Dickerson, villar, and cervellli are such a marked improvement over what they've been throwing out the last few years. we always talk about impact talent but surrounding that with capable vets and not AAAA players is also critical for good teams.

i think it just defaults to whatever the listed rotation is and because its kind of a figure it out as we go thing for our current rotation they haven't changed it since we put guys on the DL

                      • Come on Kintzler, get the save and sweep the series. Take care of business.

kintzler is a ground ball pitcher. a DP would be enormous here

                              • Aguilar should have made that play. Game should be over. In need of the 27th out.
