I didn't like the actual five round results for that matter. I feel better about Antonio Velez, our first $20,000 man, than I do about the four pitchers taken after Fulton.

I’ve seen Jake Eder pitch live several times. The kid is a beast. He just needs some professional top tier instruction to make the next jump.

suposedly will banfield will be added to the taxi squad which is interesting. i think what they might do is add all the prospects onto that squad with 5-10 vets so that the prospects can get the best instruction and ability to play a little bit. Hopefully if they do that they dont make a short sighted decision and bring guys up too early.

i would not be surprised at the rate this virus is heading in florida that the marlins dont play their home games in marlins park this year. IDK where they would send them to play but it seems like we are becoming one of the centers for this virus and i can see teams not wanting to come here.

exactly. the issue wasnt player development before (although it wasnt great), the issue was investing resources into player acquisition. Not sure what we are supposed to develop if we never spend in IFA, guys from japan/korea, and consistently tried to save money in the draft.

If we were getting good players there would be a rush. Teams like Kansas City and Philadelphia have done work. This seems like another instance of the FO cheaping out.

I think more so than cheaping out is players aren't interested in the organization. They aren't spending much on these kids.

also a good perspective i heard on the undrafted free agent thing is why in the world would any pitcher come here? we already had a ton and took nothing but pitchers. plus the 20k limit makes it really difficult to convince any of them to come if they have a spot back on their college club. the only guys it really makes sense for is college guys out of years. i wish they didnt put the 20k limit, its super fucked up for a lot of these guys.

If I were a college hitter the Marlins would be in the top 5 of places I would want to go. We literally have no spots that are 100% blocked by a major league starter. Literally everything is up for grabs right now.

Guys can still get added. Issue is once u are on the 60 man list u can NOT get off unless u are injured/traded/DFA/released. This is why u have guys like Alvarez/Navaretto/Lavarnway/Josh Smith/Cook/Box/Quezada on it. If u are on the 60 man list but NOT on the 40 man roster and u get sent off for anything other than injury/COVID u are OUT of the organization. If u are on the 40 man roster and sent off u get DFA like usual and if pass u still in system but not on 40 man anymore(2020 is a TOTAL Mess!!! and hopefully some teams screw up so Miami can get some more free talent)

I would expect to see arms and bats like Brian Miller/Burdick up eventually

Reason u have Lavarnway/Navaretto/Banfield up is u need guys to catch all the P arms in the camps. But none of them will be in a ML game.

Also looks like Nick Neidert is the #7 SP so we probably wont see any of the real young guys this year!!

I wouldnt be surprised if some HS P signed with us once all the ML stuff calms down. Boston has signed a few HS guys and Texas has signed like 8 HS players with 5 of them being HS P. Our issue was we had NO space(Thats solved now) and now teams are more concerned about the ML team then signing UDFA

I have heard we have talked to lots more guys,signed a few and were waiting for physicals to announce ALL. Remember the 3 guys that "signed" with us all announcements came from their college teams NOT from Miami

U can sign guys for 20k up till they play a 2021 game in college or HS so its not like there is a rush!! Maybe a HS kid in Miami realizes he doesn't want to go to college in December? He withdraws and signs with us? Or maybe a college kid realizes he won't play much this season?
