While Tarpley was getting pasted, I just had to investigate for some plausible reason that the Marlins swapped out fellow 27-year-old Jarlin Garcia for him. I couldn't find one. Garcia had both been better and projected better for this season. Has anyone read or heard anything to justify the downgrade?
Like I've suggested (too often perhaps), Alcantara's control is a big issue. And it's not as if he's experimenting or throwing casually. Like he said in an interview after his first spring start, he was extremely disappointed. He's totally committed to putting his best foot forward. When his fastball sails, he is lost.
