I agree BASEBALL is but Rankings are NOT. U have to look at stats, age at what level, projections when u rank a guy

This is why people give u a hard time. Richards might look like Greg Maddux vs AAA bats but against MLB bats he looked like Mike Maddox

Its like your Max Duval love. He looked great as a 26 yr old in Low A Ball but now they put him with guys his age/skill level and he is the WORST stats pitcher in our system

I'm sticking my neck out. Not nearly as much as pundits who called Kolek a top prospect, but still. Only the future holds the answers ... and Jesus, I guess.

I do like Duval ... his whole story. Never suggested he would be great ... just that he was plugging away, chasing the dream.

Kolek hasn't been on Top Prospect on this board since the day we took him. EVERYONE hated the pick when we made it

Never said u thought Duval would be great. Just using him as an example of why u look at more than just stats

I think neidert is being very underrated. his minor league numbers are very good and his only rough spot was 6 starts at the end of last year in the best hitters league in the minors. He's been great every other stretch of his career thus far. Him and Lopez to me are very good prospects.

                  Id rank ours at

                  1- Sandy Alcantara
                  2- Harrison
                  3- Lopez
                  4- Guzman
                  5- Neidert
                  6- Rogers
                  7- Diaz
                  8- Gallen
                  9- Garrett
                  10- Yamamoto

Just off- Dunand, Miller, Merandy, Sierra, Nelson, Richards, Devers in no specific order.

Not a big fan of Alcantara. Ignoring the many projections of him most likely ending up in the pen, he still only has one effective pitch and poor control.

The Cards are shrewd when it comes to trades. Jack Flaherty or Alex Reyes were the right trade targets for Miami, but St. Louis parted with a lesser package. When the Marlins got Barraclough for Cishek, it was the one instance I recall the Cards being fleeced.

                      • I still can't get over the Marlins handling of Brinson. It's criminal how they are ignoring common sense, and potentially ruining him. Of all of the dumb things they've done since Jeter took over, this might be the worst.

                        • Do we have any top 100 prospects on BA’s updated top 100?

                            61. Alcantara
                            75. Harrison
                            89. Guzman

                            • As a crutch for grading talent, naming a known player with a similar profile can be helpful. Austin Dean and Met Brandon Nimmo line up nicely, despite hitting from opposite sides of the plate.

Nimmo, with a 1.7 WAR already this season as the Mets regular right fielder, was drafted in 2011, first round. At age 25, he has been a relatively slow bloomer. In 2016 he was rated as the Mets #5 prospect. Not a known power guy or base stealer, he is succeeding as a solid contributor with a good BA and excellent OBP.

Dean was Miami's #5 prospect in '16. Injuries and lackluster performance made him disappear for awhile, but this year he has emerged at age 24. With his 2018 season split between JAX and NO, he's hitting ,353 with a .421 OBP. He doesn't steal bases or supply lots of homers (just 7 thus far), but he provides solid results. I look forward to seeing him get an extended trial in LF for the Marlins.

Note: Dean's minor league numbers this season are very similar to what Brian Anderson's were before his September call-up last season.

Mind blowing that we don’t have a Top 50 prospect
