But let's think about 3 years (2026) in terms of service time.

Arraez --> 2 years and gone
Jazz, Luzardo, Puk, Rogers ---> 3 years so will be in final year of deals. They won't keep them all for payroll and needing CC guy purposes
    Sandy -- > Signed with 2027 option
    Garcia ---> $5m buyout
    Stanton ---> $10 initial payment (with $10m more 27 and 28)

Sandy, Garcia, and Stanton cost them $33m in 2026. Jazz could be $10-12m, Puk or Rogers we'll just say around $5, and Luzardo may be A LOT. Let's just get rid of him too.

Last Arb - Sanchez. We'll say he has to go also as will be close to $9-10m if he performs.

Arb2 - Garrett, Cabrera, and Fortes. Could easily be $12-15m for these guys and they are all keeps

Arb1 - Max, Weathers, Nardi, and Burger. Realistically could be $10-12m

Not in arb yet - Edwards, EURY, and Soriano. I won't add more future guys here and limit to this.

This is now roughly...$75m in 2026

    _____, Fortes (Maybe Banfield/Mack)
    Burger, _____ (Maybe Berry)
    Edwards
    ______, _____ (Maybe Amaya)
    ______ (Maybe Cappe)
    ______, ______ (Maybe D. Myers, Brujan, Burdick)
    Jazz, _____ (Maybe Mesa Jr.)
    _____

Sandy, Eury, Garrett, Cabrera, Max (Noble/White getting close)
    Rogers/Puk, Weathers, _____ (Maybe Fulton)
_____, _____, Soriano (Maybe others like Maldonado, etc.)
    Nardi, ______

    Dead - Garcia, Stanton

And you've traded Arraez, Luzardo, J. Sanchez, and others (Berti, Scott, Okert, etc.) at some point for more. We'll say that's 6 premium guys and RP candidates. So they might be sitting at an $80m team needing 4-6 guys in free agency depending on who works out. Likely, big time prospects for Arraez/Luzardo for 3-4 of those blank lines might be really exciting.

So a 3 year plan is completely hitting on trading two of Luzardo, Arraez, and Jazz + some secondary guys and banking that the pitching holds up as I think we all agree, that staff can be fierce quickly. That's the Bendix plan based on "no extensions" and "three years." He has to completely nail two trades of presumably Arraez and Luzardo, and then not blow the likely $30m+ in free agency dollars he will have.

    Kick the can, rinse, repeat.

But the broken organization can be fixed with a $130m payroll!! Which is bottom 19th in the league!

Not yelling at you here, yelling into the sky the problem is Bruce and they can accomplish all this off-field stuff while giving Jazz, Eury, and Arraez extensions + spending on Montgomery and Lorenzen which allows them to trade Luzardo and Noble for major Orioles/Boston prospects and Adames + D. Williams (with Noble).

      It's just pathetic.

They are worse then the Dolphins and it's not close.

        Spending wise? Absolutely

Post season performance wise it’s Marlins and it’s not even close.

Take away the covid year and we haven't won a playoff game in 2 decades, and we're not talking a sport like football where you lose a game and you're out. I'd say it's close.

Fan engagement, giving a shit. 2003 was magical but it's hard to rest a case on lightning in a bottle 20 years ago when they have been horrible since with nearly everything.

I'm just saying, give the Dolphins their 6 pro bowler injuries and a game "just" 20 degrees and not -30 and maybe a lot of things change. Doesn't even include they probably beat Buffalo if they had their defense too as they lost on a return TD so maybe everything is different. It just sucks for them, but the Marlins are worse for me at least. Maybe I just like baseball more.

As far as choke factor goes they have us crushed

Hard to choke when you're not playing for anything with 2 months left in the season.

Bendix is overhauling a broken organization

                    https://x.com/j_mcpherson1126/status...5F6k6qnReU4cyQ
                    https://www.mlb.com/news/peter-bendi...s-organization

Asked for his takeaways from all this, Bendix begins by assuring fans there is a long-term plan in place. He emphasizes the importance of being disciplined in his decision-making. He cannot chase short-term highs; he must stay true and stick with the process.

“I think to build the organization that we want to build, it won't happen overnight and it won't happen in a smooth linear fashion,” Bendix said. “That's not how organizations achieve sustainable success. The way it does happen is by keeping an eye on what our end goal is, of building that organization into a place where we can be successful year in and year out, and knowing that it takes decisions that are meant to pay off in the long term to get there.

“So what we're going to be doing is, we're going to constantly be making these decisions that we know are going to take a little bit of time to pay off. But in doing so, we're not cutting things from this year. We're not trying to take a step back, we're not trying to rebuild. We're trying to come in and say, ‘What can we do to help this year's team while also investing for the future?’ We all want to constantly be investing into the future, always. There's never a point that we won't be investing into the future. You can invest into the current and the future at the same time.”

He didn’t actually say 3 years - I threw that in there because it’s a never ending cycle of waiting. By the time this guy’s plan starts to sprout, we’ll be on to the next new guy and next new plan….rinse and repeat.

                    • I’m just starting to be over it honestly. Just hard to keep putting effort into being a fan when they don’t want to try.

also, is there any chance of getting the web version of the site working properly? Or just saying forget it? Lol

Because we’re not good enough to repeat that, and nothing has been done so far, facing yet another multi-year plan of “wait until _____” after they’ve not fulfilled the promises of the last “wait until ____”

What is this based off of? Just the fact that he had a role in the Rays FO?

No, it’s based off of his love for vintage Cabernet Sauvignon.

Of course it’s based off of his role as Vice President and then General Manager of an organization known for getting a lot from a smaller payroll. Which is (other than their alligator arm owner spending more money) EXACTLY what the Marlins need to right the ship drafting and prospect/player development wise.
