  • Please get reynolds now. Rogers, Sanchez, Meyer/Eder, + and that’s a playoff contender

    • Ng has had a really nice offseason, but we desperately need big years from soler and Garcia. Getting reynolds makes this a really good and complete team. Bullpen, rotation, and lineup much improved

i think puk is closer with Barnes and Floro as set up. Regardless, they’ve gotten rid of a lot of slop out of the bullpen in bleier and hopefully now nance for a ton of added velocity in the back end with Barnes and puk

I don't love the idea of using prospects to get RP, but this deal looks very good on it's face. Being that it's the Marlins, though, I'm sure Puk will just be an ok RP, and Bleday will become the hitter we all wanted him to be.

After a horrid start, they're actually close to making this a proper offseason. They still need another bat, preferably a SS. Reynolds would be a really nice final piece, but I'm not holding my breath on that. Realistically, I think they're probably done, but I hope I'm wrong.

        • It’s probably good value for Bleday at this very moment, but also feels like it could be giving up on Bleday too soon. Especially considering we’ve made no moves to improve the OF this off-season.

Getting Puk is a nice move here and shocked it's just Bleday. But Reynolds and losing Rogers doesn't make them a playoff contender. It gets them closer though. That ain't getting it done above either unless that + is a real big player. Like Watson.

I do think this opens up more trades of arms. Oakland was going to stretch out Puk to start so it'll be interesting to see what the Marlins do here.

Agreed, either star ss or reynolds. But really good offseason. Have lost very little of value outside of Pablo who got replaced with guys who are just as good and added Arraez, cueto, segura, Barnes, puk, enright, chargois, Amaya, Edwards. Bullpen should be so much better, which will go a long way given our struggle to score runs. If we’re winning late in games, we need to take advantage and not blow it as often as last year

Puk/Scott/Okert have screaming statcasts. Marlins definitely have a type.

I mean jazz being moved to cf is an enormous upgrade. Granted he was already here but that’s a huge hole to fill. And Garcia should have a major bounce back. If Sanchez or dlc can be league average, they should actually have a fairly decent of if jazz stays healthy

                  • Really good off-season? Are we joking? We spent no significant money and are looking at a 79 win season instead of 69. A really good off-season would’ve been putting together a playoff contender. What we have right now ain’t it.

I’m fine adding Watson to that. They need to get it done. And it’s not an automatic contender but that’s definitely in the wild card conversation with normal injury luck and not our normal apocalyptic injury situation

Nobody is more excited about Jazz moving to CF than me, but we don’t know how that’ll play out.

well first, they might have put up 69 wins last year, but they were a more talented team than that. I'm trying to find their pythagorean record, but they didnt have jazz for 100 games, garcia was literally the worst player in baseball and will bounce back this year, soler missed the 2nd half, Luzardo missed half the year, rogers was terrible, and they lost 40 1 run games. They absolutely should have spent on a star SS like Turner or Correa, but they have absolutely improved tremendously. Segura and Arraez are improvements, Garcia is actually in shape and not fat, Soler supposedly is in great shape, and they have done a great job rebuilding the bullpen while not giving up much of anything. They have a ton of added velocity in the back end now with barnes and Puk. And there situational hitting will be much improved over last year with the added contact of Segura and Arraez.

he's not going to be worse defensively than what they were throwing out there with Sanchez and Bleday, and his offense will be in another stratosphere compared to them. Regardless of his defensive play, they massively upgraded the CF position this year compared to last year.

                            • If everyone is healthy and has their best years of their careers I agree we’re going to be great.

                              • their expected win loss last year was 70 wins as opposed to the 69 they had. The real reason for optimism is if they stay healthy. If they get full seasons from sandy and Jazz and go after reynolds for Rogers and prospects, that's a playoff contender. This SP staff is going to be one of the best in baseball. They just need that 1 more star piece to add to the lineup.
