Yes, you worry about 9 years from now in 8 years and go for it. i.e., once Eury becomes a free agent (LOL)

    • Been going back and forth for 2 years on what name to get on the back of my Marlins home white jersey. Figured it out just now.

      “Sherman” with the number 0

if you already have the jersey i love it. if youre buying a new one youre just putting more money in his pocket. he deserves none of your hard earned money

I bought it 2 years ago

          • From what I can tell, the only team owner who is further away from being a billionaire than Sherman is Reds owner, Robert Castellini. Shame on MLB for awarding him the franchise.

            • The Mets 2023 payroll will be roughly 66% of Sherman’s entire net worth if I ran the numbers right.

Mets roster has a higher net worth in 4-5 years once they get a few checks!

                • at this point the only free agents who can make the offseason salvageable are conforto + turner plus a trade. they will do none of that and act like they had a successful offseason. and dont look now but the bullpen looks even worse than last year.

                  • here are the last 12 free agents we have signed to multi year deals- Soler, Garcia, Bass, Dickerson, Ziegler, Tazawa, Volquez, Chen, Morse, Jeff Baker, Garrett Jones, Salty. We've signed 12 guys to multi year deals in 10 years. 12. Only 3 of which were over 22 million- Soler, Garcia, and Chen.

                    • I just have 0 hope any more. There's ZERO indication they're going to sign anyone. There's ZERO indication they're willing to make trades to improve the team.

They don't care, why should I?

                      • Yeah, I've officially stopped caring. Honestly last offseason was the offseason to really put their foot on the gas, and they failed in every way imaginable. I still watched last season with a glimmer of hope, but it was a predictable end. This offseason, I just really find myself with no expectations, the FO has proved what they are and what their intentions are with this club. (AKA keep payroll down and squeak out a profit, with poor attendance) I may still watch games out of habit, we'll see, but I feel like my engagement with the team is at an all time low right now. (which is saying something because we've had mostly lows)

Oh I barely watched last season. I'm not wasting 3 hours a night watching a team that's not competitive, nor fun. There have been fun bad teams ('06 comes to mind), but now it's just bad. They go down a run, and it fees like it's over already.

                          • like what is the sherman plan here? Is he just going to spend 0 dollars every offseason and just hope the team appreciates to more than he bought it for eventually and then sell? why buy this team to not do literally anything? why couldnt we just for once have an owner with fuck you money like Mark Cuban who will spend what it takes to win here. I just dont understand how Sherman does not realize that if he just spent stupid money and placed a competitive team out there, he would field a winning team and bring fans out and make it up in increased revenue. How fucking stupid do you have to be and how little do you have to understand this market to think that the fans will ever come out if they dont put a competitive team out there first? It has to be one of the worst ownership tenures in terms of understanding the market you bought in.

                            • Sherman doesn't really have "stupid money" to spend. He is wealthy compared to us but compared to other owners he is destitute.

I would assume the plan, such as there is one, is to do the same thing Loria did...basically use the team to launder money into his own pocket.

It really is a disgrace MLB approved the sale to this group.

Pretty much, and to add, I think when we collectively mean spend money, we mean "bottom 20" money and just go to $110-130m. Not even asking for league median here.

Honestly I bet MLB is pissed. Miami should be a flagship franchise with Caribbean roots, and they are being run by cheapskates for the 4th time now.
