Bumgarner has a 5-team No-Trade List. I'd bet good money we're one of the 5.

Also, if I'm reading the tea leaves properly based on some of his responses to others, it feels like he may believe it's going to be Espada.

There's a report out there that the White Sox are hiring Espada. If that's true, there goes that. Picking Chicago over Miami is an incredibly easy decision.

The Marlins have also apparently interviewed Oz Ocampo for an assistant GM position. He's involved in international scouting right now.

Or just trade pablo and find a CF you identify like a Thomas type and hope for a bounce back from Soler and Garcia instead of taking on even more money for someone elses "Soler" or "garcia"
That's my ideal offseason: Pablo for Thomas, in an ideal world spend money on Correa, and then sign some bullpen arms.
C- Fortes/Stallings
1b- Cooper
2b- Jazz
SS- Correa
3b- Anderson/Wendle
LF- Bleday/Sanchez platoon
CF-Thomas
RF- Garcia
DH- Soler
Bench- Rojas, Leblanc, backup C, Anderson/Wendle, Berti
SP- Sandy, Luzardo, Garrett, Cabrera, Rogers
RP- Floro, Bleier, Tanner Scott, Okert, 1 closer, 2 middle relievers (we're talking maybe 10-15 million to adress the bullpen)
That's a lot more pop and depth in the lineup, the rotation will have some innings limitations for one year but they can survive that and with limited money they have to take calculated risks, and the bullpen will be shallow but good relievers get signed for very little every single year.
Lou can probably do the math as far as what that costs but thats the best they can do.
There are also a few ways they can save a little money here and there- nontendering Elieser, declining Wendle's 6.3 million option and going to arbitration with him which is projected for a million less, etc. They can make it work if Sherman is willing to open up the wallet for a star like Correa to win.
So that's a $120-130m team you have above with the "address the bullpen" line.

Colorado, Cincinatti, and Oakland are likely locks as they are two atrocious home locations on bad teams and Oakland is a disaster across the board. He's not going back to the bay area to play for Oakland. Miami seems like a better situation to me for the next 2 years than Kansas City, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Washington at a minimum.
I'd be surprised. That's all I'm saying. I do think Arizona is a huge match here with the excess CF and Bumgarner/Soler disappointing contract swap.

Jazz and Sandy tweeted approval of the Schumaker move. Who knows how he'll do, but I like that they went with a young guy who's a former player. He comes from a successful organization, and was impressive in the interviews I watched. Hopefully he's forward thinking, and not stuck in the BS old world thinking we saw way too much from Mattingly.
Mish also said that he's optimistic that Ocampo will be hired as the new Assistant GM.

This one is not an attack, just a genuine question as I figured it would be one of the first two.
Ultimately, pitch lefty relievers against lefty hitters and this is an improvement. The bar is low.

I liked that they cast a wide net, and took their time with this. They acted like a real ball club in this case. Who knows if it will work out (odds are probably against it), but I think you can respect the process here.
