Interesting that it looks like we'll see Anderson return to the OF some. Definitely would be a better defensive arrangement than putting Cooper or Soler out there.

    • I really think Cooper needs to be dealt. I just don't think he's a fit any more with the roster as constructed.

He seems highly motivated to have a great season. Don't think you move the team's best hitter when you are looking for offense. The Soler signing seemed desparate to me ... if he starts the season like he did the last two, that contract will be severely underwater in a hurry.

There was one hitter on the Marlins last year with a better Weighted On Base Average than Cooper (.361)

He plays for the Mets now (.364)

If the dude had managed to play in half the games in the 4 years he's been with the club I might put him in the running, but at some point you are what you are.

                  • At some point you stay healthy and get to show your full talent. I'd prefer that Cooper didn't do that for another team.

                    • Richard Bleier signed to a 2 year extension with an option year. Solid deal for him and the team.

                      • Also, LHP Grant Dayton has signed a minor league deal with a spring invite.

Which reminds me that this team managed to pick 5 different starting pitching prospects in the first round of the 2005 draft and each and every one of them was completely awful. Not to mention Tankersley sucked the year before, Allison had drug issues the year before that, and then 2006 we also drafted sinkbeil and he was also awful. Plus hermida in 2002 who stunk. So they took 8 consecutive first round pitchers and they all were terrible. Then coghlan had a good rookie year but overall was nothing special, then we proceeded to draft Matt Dominguez, then skipworth, then chad James. Hard to be that bad for that many years in a row. No wonder this team never had any depth to sustain injuries in the Loria years. They had a literal decade of absolute garbage first round picks. Very few even got to the big leagues let alone showed promise at the big league level

And then drafted what would have been the best RHP of his generation, two MVPS, and the best catcher in baseball. Baseball is crazy.

Yes, him or Aguilar should go for a CF for sure. Unless Garcia can magically do it.
