It's gotta be close to impossible for some of these teams to judge these guys given that almost all of them didnt play at all last year
This is gonna be a head scratcher year for Rule 5 since most guys have no tape lately and alot of guys are actually age "ready". Age ready meaning lots of 24/25 yr olds

Marlins are looking at C AGAIN

    PJ Higgins Cubs
    Peyton Henry Milwaukee
    Rodriguez Cards

Rodriguez is my favorite however ceiling is likely Backup C. 6'0 245 has some bat but his defense is WOW. Other 2 are more bat types but the bats arent anything great

C/RP are probably 2 most likely spots they look at however a guy that they have loved in the past is out there.

Omar Estevez from LAD. MIF from Cuba. Shit LOTS of guys from LAD

I think they probably pop on someone but its not like we need more 23-25 yr old RP. HAHAH. Lots of options tho from RP to C to MIF to even OF

    • How the Marlins handle the 40 man roster will be interesting. We are at 39 right now, but I can see a path to open at least 2 or 3 more spots (Brigham, Holloway, Tarpley). Perhaps trading Dugger/Yamamoto/Brinson. We need to add at least 2 or 3 more RP and another bat this offseason, so we will need to clear more space.

Agreed. Brigham and Holloway are on thin ice right now

Marlins have been talking to teams about trades for arms on our roster for NON 40 man arms but doubt we see anything yet since teams wanna have flexibility for Winter Meetings. They also been talking to teams who are looking to cut payroll for 3 or 4 for 1/2 trades(Pretty much like a Starling trade)

        P who are shaky-Brigham/Holloway/Dugger/Yamamoto/Tarp

The bats are interesting because they seem to be shopping Monte around and very happy with Brinson after LY. NOT saying trading Monte but have put his name out there. Most likely bats to go are Harold/Isan Diaz/Aguilar/Alfaro

Aguilar IF they get a Rosario type
Alfaro IF they get a C

Just say Miami gets a Tony Wolters/Rule 5 C and Wallach OR even they trade for a younger C prospect Alfaro is likely gone

I dont think they give away any of the bats(DFA or anything) but they are looking to replace/improve on these guys

        • Another thing teams are waiting for beside the DH ruling is they are waiting for MLB to say if taxi squad/30 man rosters again for 2021 season. Doubt they do like they did LY but big push for the Road Taxi Squad/30 man rosters. If that happens it changes what lots of teams will do

Brinson hit .226/.268/.368 and isn't even particularly good defensively.

            • saw something about the mets looking at giving 4 years to james mccann. that seems like a flagrantly bad idea and if thats what it would take to get him absolutely not. I get they have money now but im not sure if investing in a bunch of high price free agents is the best way to go about solving their issue. Money alone doesnt win in the game today, it takes a combination of player developent, willingness to spend on the draft and IFA, patient management with an actual plan, and the smart free agent signing sprinkled in.

Miami Marlins have shown interest in KBO MVP Mel Rojas, Jr. 47 HR last season. RF possibility. Rojas tweeted he is undecided on returning to Korea or signing with an MLB team. Several clubs have inquired on him. Per Sources.

As he wouldn't do better than a minor league contract in U.S., he will likely return to the green pastures of South Korea.

                  • MLB has said likely NO DH in NL next year and about 5 better LHB with power who have shown they can hit ML pitching

                    • Article on Burdick from today's Herald. He should easily make the top ten when Marlins 2021 prospect list comes out. I like his odds of being the left fielder on Opening Day 2022

Rojas Jr. wouldn’t be my first choice, but I like that they are looking at everything.

Very true. Nothing wrong with looking at all options. If u could get him cheap sure-what I meant is if u have to give Rojas or Rosario/Joc 5 million a year I would pass on Rojas

Reality is we only really need someone this year. In 2022 ALL of our prospects are ready

This is what makes 2021 so interesting for Miami. U have about 7 guys fighting for 2 corner OF spots in 2022

                              Bleday
                              Jerar
                              Jesus
                              Burdick
                              Conine
                              Misner
                              Monte

All these guys will be "age" ready just have to sort out who. This is why many around MLB think Miami will be making another Marte type trade(3 or 4 for 1). We have pieces

                              • I can't find any reason to be overly enthusiastic about any of our OF prospects, but I'd lean toward Burdick and Conine right now. We'd mostly be talking about future CF CJ Abrams if we had taken him in the 2019 draft, a future star that has the complete tool package that Jeter claimed the team was looking for.

To be honest, I feel like the team is in an odd place right now. Though the offense generally sucks, I don't know where the team is really looking to upgrade (other than catcher, of course, but who is out there to target?)

Funny thing about Marte. He joined the team and put up Villar numbers, yet we re-upped him for a ton of money anyway.
