This is silly. Starling Marte is the most (or 2nd most) impactful hitter in the Marlins lineup. Despite mildly struggling in the 112 at bats he had with the Marlins, he still made the offense significantly deeper and better. Not having him in that Braves series was a killer.

good riddance. if he couldnt become a bullpen guy, which in his limited appearances out of the pen it seemed like he couldnt handle, he wasnt a rotation piece. interesting thing is that they DFA him instead of non tendering him tomorrow, leaving open the possibility of getting at least something minor for him

@CraigMish
Marlins have acquired RP Adam Cimber from the Indians for cash considerations.

I really don't see any of our young OF options breaking camp with the team. So you're going to have Dickerson-Marte and ???. If the choice is Brinson, Sierra or Cooper. I'd have to go with Cooper then put Aguilar at 1st until Lewin is ready.

Urena perhaps throws his change too hard (90 mph) vs 88 for Sandy. Same with the slider. With a few tweaks by a capable pitching coach, Urena could still become a very good pitcher IMO. I would have kept him.

Sixto and hopefully E. Cabrera and Trevor Rogers hardly amount to "a slew" or a plethora, and they only relate to starting pitching. As to prospects at all the other positions, we have only wishful hopes and doubts. Among the top 100 types, we have Chisholm, Bleday, Meyer and the forementioned Cabera and Sixto. Much as I like Chisholm, his hitting is in question. Bleday has shown us only that he can produce like Jhonny Santos at Jupiter (Who the hell is Jhonny? My point exactly!) Jesus Sanchez has taken a serious dip in Fangraphs appraisal, dropping back in the pack with our corps of Burdick, Scott, Encarnacion, and Mizner. (Jesus can barely earn time in the Dominican Winter League.) Both Isan andLewin Diaz failed to show major league hit tools in their limited looks thus far.
While I'm hoping, I have to admit to lots of serious doubt.

Lopez, S Sanchez, Alcantara and Hernandez are the guys I'm relying on. I'm hopeful for Cabrera (with health concerns). I really liked Rogers's stuff, but realize there is some question about whether he harnasses everything. As I said, starting pitching is not the issue. Everything else is.
