As for Aguilar, I hope Miami keeps him. He had some big moments for them, and he's not going to cost a whole lot. They probably could even trade him to an AL team at some point if they wanted to. FWIW, Mish thinks they're going to tender him.
Nope we are interested. It depends on the price. 2/12 or so and we will be all over him.

They want a power LHB that can play 1B/DH/OF which Rosario fits to a tee. Issue is they have guys ready soon so they arent gonna break the bank for him but anything for 2 years at 8-12 million and they will try

I think they tender him and see. Power bats for 5 million are not a bad deal-Aguilar's issue is we have Coop who is better at 1B and cheaper

Mish is reporting that a lot of teams have called asking about Aguilar - tender him and if we make other moves and/or determine him expendable, you can trade him.

      • Chicago non-tendered Mazara and Rodon. I know there were rumors about Mazara last year via trade, and we’ve been talking about Rodon around here since before he was drafted.

        • The Braves non-tendered Adam Duvall. More cheap power available, although I’m not sure we are looking for a right handed bat.

          • Marlins tendered Aguilar. $4.3 million. Good deal.

There are 4 or 5 C that in the Rule 5 they "like"
Please let us get some catching prospects...come on Ms. Ng deliver for us ma'am

              • we non-tendered Stanek. Im sure he will catch on somewhere but thats the right move. he stunk with us. Archie bradley was among the guys non tendered so add him to the list of relievers. With the market depressed and the sheer number of quality relievers out there we really need to make moves to get 3 quality arms in the back end of the bullpen. Shouldnt cost much more than 10-15 mill and with our rotation pretty much intact and our lineup having a ton of young options i dont see that as being out of the question. Then add 1 catcher in FA and take a flier on 1-2 in the rule 5 and roll it back next year. Maybe 1 back end potential rotation arm as well.

                • We better spend some cash. Its crazy all the guys on the market who perfect for us

5 or 6 LHB with power
Wolters/Casali as C and few C in Rule 5. Not young tho
                  Lots of RP

We need 4 or 5 guys

They are looking for a vet SP as well but not priority

I have the impression that the team is satisfied with Alfaro and Wallach. Are you aware of team plans to get rid of one or both of them? Would the Marlins replace Wallach with Wolters or Casali? I have trouble seeing it. (That's merely what I sense, not what I'd prefer. I'd be looking to trade for Campusano from San Diego or even Varsho from Arizona. The Diamondbacks are evidently our trade buddies now ... given that Gallen is already viewed as their premier building block and they got Humberto Mejia from us.)

                    • So right now spotrac has us at about 42.5 million give or take a little in guaranteed salaries next year. IF they trade dickerson, which i think is a good possibility, that goes down to 33 million. What could the lowest they go really be? Gotta think they get to at least 50, i think 60 is realistic. That's anywhere between 27 million (with a dickerson salary dump and a $60 million payroll) and 8.5 or so. Ng already said bullpen is the biggest need, so we need to at a minimum sign 2 or 3 of these relievers. I dont like going beyond 2 years with any kind of reliever and i think in a deflated market we could really make huge improvements there with our money. An absolute shit ton of good relievers on the market. I think they sign 1 legit closer option who is more analytics friendly than Kintzler who pitches to contact, then another 2 really solid mid relief or set up options. We should see a huge improvement there and i think that can really be the difference between a good oyung team that is still a year away and a legit contender as soon as next year if some of the prospect bats take another step.

So we need 1 rule 5 catcher, 1 legit FA catcher who can at least compete with Alfaro, 3-4 veteran bullpen arms, and while this is just my opinion, 1 veteran rotation arm who can be a good veteran presence in the backend of the rotation and eat innings in the event that Pablo continues not to go deeper into games, Sixto struggles, and they dont want to push the super young arm of Edward Cabrera. Jeff Samardzjia, maybe a flier on cole hamels, or maybe Jose quintana on 1 short term. deal. One guy id be super interested in in the trade market would be Jon Gray. Guy has been inconsistent but has front end of the rotation stuff, they have an OF need which we can help, and I could see him taking a huge leap out of Colorado and into our ballpark. Maybe a dickerson and SP prospect match?

                      • Just checked on Jon gray and he got a little over 5 million but after checking his splits they arent drastically different at all. He might just be an inconsistent pitcher with great stuff but that's still a mid-back of the rotation option that id love to bring in here.

I think they like both of them but that that wont keep them away from adding at least some veteran competition. I dont know how you can count on Alfaro to be anything more than a decent backup at this point. Maybe it was just a weird year and the covid was more impactful to him than we know but good god he was bad. Not just bad numbers but the at bats and the lack of contact is impossible to put up with.

Id deal a high end player for Keibert Ruiz. The dodgers have essentially no needs but id deal anyone in our system outside of Bleday and Sixto and Meyer. Id even consider dealing pablo lopez for him. I love pablo as a person and hes a decent pitcher but if you can get some long term piece for him i would at least explore it. His inability to get deeper into games even when he has manageable pitch counts limits his value and SP is a huge strength for us moving forward.

                          • How on earth do we not know if there is a DH in the nl next yet? How is it fair to these teams making important decisions?

                            • finally broke down and bought baseball america's annual content. Looking at their list of rule 5 picks available. not any one guy who looks like the #1 pick but One that stands out is yankees farmhand garrett whitlock. interesting numbers. another is braedan ogle lefty for the pirates.

It's gotta be close to impossible for some of these teams to judge these guys given that almost all of them didnt play at all last year
