MILWAUKEE -- They're still the new Marlins. The offers are still out there.
The stadium is still new.
And the fact that none of those big offers have yet been accepted?
Hey, none of those big-name free agents has yet signed anywhere else, either.
"I don't feel pressure to do anything -- ever," Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said as he left baseball's owners meetings Thursday. "But it's a new environment."
In this new environment, the Marlins can bid on Albert Pujols, Jose Reyes and others, and even get them to Miami on recruiting visits. They're still considered a longshot on signing Pujols, but may even be the favorite at this point for Reyes.
One complication with signing Reyes would be that incumbent shortstop Hanley Ramirez would need to move to third base. The Miami Herald reported this week that Ramirez isn't thrilled with the idea, but Loria insisted it won't be a problem.
"He's a wonderful team guy," Loria said.
Remember, new Marlins, new environment.
In Loria's mind, new environment and new stadium are related.
Asked Thursday if it was a big step that big-name free agents have visited the Marlins, he was quick with his answer.
"I think all you have to do is go to Miami and look at the ballpark, and you wouldn't ask that," he said.
As for whether he thinks the Marlins will sign Reyes, Pujols or any of the others, Loria simply said: "I don't know, we'll wait and see."

Dan Jennings on XM MLB Radio just now:
1. The front office was content with the team last year, felt they had a really good group of guys minus the injuries. If they don't make a big splash in the offseason, they are still happy with where the team is with an additional year of experience.
2. Asked about Hanley switching positions, basically said they will cross that bridge when they get there. Seems like that expression has been used by every FO member these past 2 weeks.
3. There has been discussion about Hanley moving to 3rd, but not much directly to him....there is no reason to create turbulence if it does not come about (acquiring Reyes)
4. asked if Reyes is No. 1 target: talked about the Latin community, Albert is the face of baseball, but Ozzie likes speed, talked about acquiring a pitcher thru FA or trade...
5. Closer-mystery regarding Visa status of Leo aka Juan Carlos...didnt rule him out for a 7th-8th inning guy and bring in a closer-sounded like just talk tho
6. Cespedes-he has seen him twice, saw him in a work in front of 100+, one of the most impressive he has ever seen, tremendous athlete, raw power, tremendous speed, seems like they want to get him-not sure how he can handle inside heat or breaking balls-Loria specifically asked him about that-compares him to Bo Jackson
7. likes colors of uniforms
Nothing really ground breaking there, most interesting I guess is not really talking to Hanley about moving to 3rd and they seem very high on Cespedes

I didn't get a chance to write the exact quote but he also said it is like Christmas around the FO...mentioned the same thing we have been hearing that they have an exact plan about how they are approaching FA with regards to if they get "A" player they will then pursue "B" player.
