  • I highly doubt the difference in manufacturing costs is more than $10 between the authentic and replica the cost difference is $160. This has gotten off topic.

But how many pujols jerseys would be sold if he signed here. You can't necessarily say that those sales would have been made on a different jersey if he wasn't on the team. Over 9 years how close could you get to paying off Pujols contract just by selling his jersey.

    • Pujols was #6 in the 2010 Majestic Authentic jersey sales list. Not a single Marlin was on their top 20, so yes, I'd guess they would make a lot of money on that.

      • Slow morning so far here in Milwaukee, where Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria arrived at The Pfister hotel, entering the lobby a few strides behind Fred Wilpon of the Mets.

Loria said he’d talk with reporters later today but added, “There’s really nothing new.’

As he made his way through the crowded lobby, Loria shook hands with Red Sox owner John Henry, the Marlins’ previous owner before Loria took ownership of the team in Feburary 2002.

Henry told me last night that he was extremely happy the Marlins finally got their new ballpark. Although he has not seen the ballpark yet, he did say the best location for it would have been along the Miami waterfront, where Henry tried and failed to put a ballpark…

The GM meetings started Tuesday and end tonight while the owners meetings start today and Thursday. Marlins team president David Samson is also expected here today…

Meanwhile, reports say the Marlins met last night with Bob Garber, the agent for CJ Wilson and Roy Oswalt. It’s not known if the Marlins asked for that meeting or if the agent did.

Mark Buehrle remains the Marlins’ top free-agent pitching target.

The Marlins also might talk to the Colorado Rockies, who have interest in Ricky Nolasco and Anibal Sanchez, according to the Denver Post.

That same report cites an unnamed GM who heard the Marlins had offered $250 million in contracts to free agents.

I wouldn't expect any until the CBA is ratified. By all accounts, that could be as soon as tomorrow, though.

Marlins have made offers to at least 6 free agents at about 75 cents on the dollar....but tix will sell because of FA approach....

Of all the free agents the Marlins have been chasing...the most realistic bets would be Reyes and/or Madson

              • Why does Jim Bowden work for ESPN? It's like, you were paid to evaluate players and be smarter than your peers but you weren't good at that so you got fired, but we'll hire you to evaluate players and criticize your (former) peers.

                • To be fair, he is more available to do the job than people who are good at that.

                    • LebaTard and dad were talking about Hanley being unhappy with the idea of a bigger star joining the team and taking his spot. Good thing all our offers are in Pesos and shouldn't be taken seriously.

                          • Samson says they likely aren't willing to go over $100m. Mentioned trade market several times.

                            • Aside from that, not much. LeBetard said it best. "We spent 15, 16 minutes talking to Samson and we don't know anymore know than we did before."

He did add a "you never know though".

Talked about pitching being top priority but when asked what about Pujols and hitting then he added that their can be multiple top priorities basically a 1A and 1B.

Said they hope to add 2-3 players. (not sure if he meant just from free agency or possibly from trade as well.)

I had a phone call so I didn't get to hear all of it.
