Considering the average ERA in the NL is 3.8 this year, a "quality start" isn't really anymore. So barely more than half of his last 7 starts, which is a totally arbitrary an meaningless dividing line, isn't impressive at all.

        He stinks.

And, MiamiHomer, why would you think Jack didn't have a say in this? We sent Volstad down and did not call up a player for tonight. We're playing with a 24 man roster tonight. Don't you think that if it was the FO alone doing this that we would have called someone up for the game tonight?

No argument can be made that says Volstad isn't stinky poop.

The only argument against this is "sink or swim, asshole."

Well then shouldn't we take out his stats against the hapless Rays, Mariners and A's?
If so, that leaves us with his last 3 starts. Astros, Cubs, Mets

He went 1-0 and the team won 66.7% of its games during that stretch.

You want to break down the last 7 starts? We can do that.

That's a 4.65 ERA over that span (amazing how different that the last 8 taking out a Phillies start, right?). That's not exactly terrible there, you know.

It is almost a full run worse than league average.

                              So it's still pretty terrible.

If we have a pitcher on our team that we have to "take out" all his starts against the main team we have to beat to ever win anything, then no thanks
