Suggestion for people that have trouble checking if people have been picked already. PWG uploads the latest rosters after each round is completed so all you got to do is upload the league file on the actual program and you will be able to click on the player and it will show that they are on a team when it shows the team logo on the header of the player page. Obviously if the round hasn't ended you can check the last picks ahead of you.

That makes perfect sense. For a few teams, the header doesn't convert to team colors. I jotted down some names and ran to class. This is a Dolphins town, though.

We're going to go ahead and institute the "speed up" rule.
(1) If you have been auto'd, you will continue to be auto'd until you send us a list. None of this "I'm here, don't pick for me" schtick. You miss your turn, you send us a list and then you're back in the good graces. Sending the list doesn't mean we'll automatically pick from it if you're online and say "wait a minute" but we're not going to let drive by "wait" picks hold the process hostage.
(2) If you've held the pick during "normal" hours (10 AM - Midnight during weekdays, noon-midnight weekends) for more than 3 hours, you are getting auto'd. Don't like that, send us a list. Don't like making lists, send us a guideline (best reliever under 40, best right-handed SP, etc).
Thank you. Any complaints can be shouted to the wind, because this is what we're going to do for the rest of the major league phase of the draft.

Anything Swift says is as good as my saying it.
100% in agreement.
I've been exceptionally lenient and I have no problem giving people a minute or two or advice or something... but it's getting to the point where (and this doesn't apply to everyone I do it to) I'm literally IMing people and reminding them it's their turn. (Again, some people are perfectly aware and I IM them anyways, just as a courtesy) but, I shouldn't be getting responses of "oops, I totally forgot" or... "Can I get 10 minutes?" or such.
We're probably going to cut the ML draft around round 15/16 and then cut to the MiLB draft for 10 rounds. After that, full auto and game on.CSBC Commish

I'm totally fine with the "speed up" rule. I've starting sending in lists just to speed up the process but I see that hasn't been needed yet.
What do you mean by cutting off the major league draft at 15 or 16? We're only going to draft this way until then and the other 9 or 10 rounds will be auto'd? Or does the 10 round minor league draft count toward us filling out our 25 man rosters and the minors would then be auto'd?
/needs to know because I've already started figuring out lineups and am drafting accordingly

When you're basically choosing between like, a SP with a 52/63/54 rating vs a SP with a 53/60/57... you're not going to miss out on much. And basically, everyone's AAA will be filled with guys that are as good as what's left.CSBC Commish

The only thing is that there are quite a few guys that have some high star values but are not eligible under the major league rule. If we're going to cut the major league draft off, the first 3 or 4 picks for most teams would be better than what we already have or will get stuck with.
Speaking for me personally, I have scoured the major league eligible guys to finish filling out my hitting roster and rotation. My outfield is set and I have a catcher but I'm still in need of a shortstop, firstbaseman and backups for all positions. If I only have 3 or 4 more picks, how can I be sure that I will get appropriate backups?

Well, after the manual phase is completed, OOTP will automatically complete the organization's system...filling A, AA, AAA, etc. Your roster won't end up short.
Where we're going with ending the major league phase before round 25 is simply this, we realize there are players out there that owners think highly of, we realize there are some players, like for example Josh Hamilton, that I'm sure owners think of as a starter and rather than having them draft player X as the insurance policy, we feel that it is the right thing to do to allow owners to see if plan A falls into place rather than making them preemptively select plans B or C.
Also, so long as there is meaningful talent to choose from, we will not end the draft.

I will then set their 25 man roster without using up minor league options so that they can have everything the way they want it before we start. However, after I do that, if you send someone down, say hello option year.CSBC Commish

Okay, I get it. I'm just not sure how I feel about 10 rounds of the major league draft being auto'd. I'm afraid that the players that the computer drafts for me would not be anything close to what I want.
I have no problem with the minors being auto'd but the having 1/3 of the major league draft being auto'd scares me. If there are people like me that have made back up plans for our 25 man, can we send in lists so we don't have to worry about what the computer will give us?

PWG's already knows what's going on, but there's a ton of stuff going on in my life right now, and I'm very rarely at my home computer. That's my excuse for having to be auto'd and listed. So far I've been mostly happy with my team, though I am worried about payroll, but that's nobody's fault but my own for going old and not worrying too much about cost controlled players because I hate potential in this game (been bit too many times.)
I have to give PWG's credit, he's been more than generous with giving me time and advice when I'm away from my computer.poop

It literally seems as if, in a nutshell (obvious cases), we're drafting 2 other teams in addition to our own. Most people are fine though.Last edited by PitchingWinsGames; 10-15-2009, 01:34 PM.CSBC Commish
