That's actually considerably more.

You're signing two potentially enormous assets. ANYONE can trade for Javy or Pudge on a one year deal with half the contract already paid. Very few can take on Pujols with 9, 8 or 7 years remaining, and based on how this negotiation is going, it seems only two teams are even entertaining that thought. After that, 10/5 rights vest anyway, so he's going to get what he wants.
