Morneau did not play. Mauer pinch hit once, and not against the Train. The left side of the Twins' infield was Brendan Harris and Luke Hughes. And, for some reason, Gardy thought it would be a good idea to play both Kubel (who turns into, like, Nick Punto against lefties) and Thome against a lefty.

Still, D-Train looked very good, which was nice to see.

Yeah it may not have been murderer's row, but it's a 3.0 K/BB nevertheless. Good progress for him.

        Train's "sick" again. Recurring problems?

Didn't know that. I read on a Detroit message board that their fans thought he was dodging the Yankees much like he was sick a month ago.

              Train is laboring a bit.

That sucks. I still want him but we'd be on the hook for his salary if we claimed him off waivers.

They'll pick up the salary if we (or anyone else for that matter) want him.

Dead serious: Badenhop for Dontrelle. Why not?

I'm inclined to agree with Mainge. We already have enough left-handed starters that are total headcases right now (mainly looking at Andrew Miller but West was having serious control issues, too before his trip to the DL). Unless we throw D-Train in the pen and he has a relevation, he doesn't fill our most immediate need. Well, his bat might but do we want to throw him in the outfield ala Rick Ankiel?

He could be our coveted lefty off the bench we have been looking for.

lefties are hitting .224/.309/.327 off him this season and .206/.282/.289 career

even in his pretty awful 2007 season for us, they hit .123/.215/.142 (!) off of him

it's pretty clear what needs to happen with him now

of course, he'd be a Pinto type where you never know if he's gonna be able to find the plate or not
