It’s very possible that Jeter/Denbo and Co. are smarter than I am but from my viewpoint......I think it’s borderline comical that Barraclough, Conley, Deitrich and Castro are still on this team post deadline.

I can also see Dietrich and especially Castro being moved in August.

I feel Barraclough and Dietrich should have been moved, but they can also do it next offseason. They have been playing in their best light (up until the KB blowups) so I'm not sure there wasn't a deal there, but who knows.

Just remember if they make a trade the guys they get back can NOT be on the 40 man unless they too pass thru.Doubt this will be a problem since they are looking for guys who are NOT on 40 man already.
Way it goes for Waivers is Worst to Best in NL then Worst to Best in AL. If team claims someone we can either work out a trade, let guy(and contract) go,or pull back

I wrote the following fanpost at Fishstripes.com on October 3, 2017, entitled Mission Possible:
"Jeter’s goal looks impossible. How do you get rid of the horrific contracts and reduce payroll by half?
One brilliant stroke. Flip the entire 25-man roster, along with the DL list, to Philly for theirs.
Why for the Marlins? It works. A clean slate. A promising young roster for the right price.
Why for Philadelphia? They can’t say no. The Marlins make them a true competitor for next season. How can that be? Philly is allowed to keep a few players. Nola. Fine. A few BP arms. Fine. Whatever it takes.
Why the hell not?"
As the Marlins lie in a state of hopelessness and the Phils roll forward, it's fun to revisit the thought. Philly, with their attendance less than half of what it was a few years before, could have added all-stars Yelich, Stanton, Ozuna, Gordon, Realmuto and up and coming Bour. Instant revitalization for roughly a $140M payroll (well within their budget). Marlins would have had a fresh start.
