Paddack was around 15-20 I believe in our preseason rankings based off his relatively high draft status the year prior and his great season that year in the gcl. You’re wrong, as usual.

All this rain the last few days has reminded me of just how annoying the rain was before the roof down here. Also why in the world are they playing in this monsoon right now?

Reading a herald column about the deadline and they said that the Maybin trade was the first time in our teams history that we ever ACQUIRED IFA cash in any deal. I know we dont do anything in the IFA market but thats a stunning fact to learn.

Pablo lopez screams healthy henderson alvarez to me. Maybe not necessarily stuff wise, but just pitching style in terms of not a sky high K rate but goes deep into games, works quickly, and pitches efficiently and well they are very similar.

I’m so glad Kyle Barraclough is still a Marlin.

Another blown save for Barraclough in epic fashion. Thank you dumbass Jeter and dumbass organization for failing to sell high on a reliever again. This team is so stupid that I don’t even care anymore.

We most certainly had good offers for Barraclough prior to the deadline. Lesser relievers brought back good value. Jeter is just dumb like his buddy Loria. Keeping volatile relievers on bad teams.

All of this garbage and Barraclough still has a .198 .BABIP against. We still have more regression to look forward to. The guy went from having great trade value at one point to probably minimal trade value in the near future. Marlins Baseball — why can’t we be more like the Rays?

I can't believe how steady Conley has been as a reliever. It's like they're making up for the mistake of giving up on Brad Hand and Andrew Miller by doing the right thing with Adam Conley.
And Pablo Lopez is definitely a guy the Mariners have already regretted trading away. Even if his ceiling becomes a #3 starter down the line it's still the biggest plus trade the Marlins have made this decade.

If one of Ca. Smith, Richards, or Pablo becomes a # 3 SP, that would be incredible given how they got them.

Those lesser relievers also didn't have the years of control - except Hand/Cimber - so it's hard to compare all the deals. Yea, Mejia would have been great, but Hand is better and that's not realistic.

As I am watching games tonight, thinking about longterm 40 man:
SP - Alcantara, Chen, Lopez, Peters, Richards, Ca. Smith, Straily, Urena (8)
RP - Barraclough, Conley, Garcia, M. Gonzalez, Guerrero, E. Hernandez, Meyer, O’Grady, Rucinski, Steckenrider, Wittgren (11)
C- Realmuto (1)
IF - Anderson, Bour, Castro, Cooper, Prado, Riddle, Rivera, Rojas (8)
OF - Brison, Dietrich, Lee, Sierra (4)
=32
New for 2017 locks - M. Harrison, Diaz, Yamamoto, Brigham, Quijada, Dean (6)
=38
[I don’t think Neidert/Gallen/etc. are required as 2016 picks and Guzman was IFA in 2015 so I think he may not need to go on. If I’m wrong, I think the only guy that would probably need to be included from what the Marlins have in terms of top prospects is Guzman, but maybe I am wrong?
=39, maybe]
-Other eligible guys who could sneak in - T. Kinley, Nola, Twine, Norwood
-Guys who would be DFA’d in this scenario - Cloyd, Del Pozo, Despaigne, Graves, Guerra, Needy, Holaday, Wallach, Galloway (Telis not on 40 man)
I’m guessing I am missing another few “other eligible” kind of guys, but looking at the top 20-30 prospect lists, I don't think I am missing anyone.
I would assume they are going to make a few moves, but that may have a neutral effect of they are acquiring guys who have to go on the 40 man. I’m looking at this list and absent trades, Rivera, O'Grady, Rucinski, B. Lee, Prado, and Chen seem like the “bottom" to DFA there and no one is probably crying.
Basically, they probably only have a little room to operate here which is quite a change from a year or two ago.
