Yep. Conley is worth more. Britton is going to throw 30 innings for them, cost around $4.5 million ROS, and they gave up a decent FV45 guy who should settle into a 4/5 SP or a decent middle reliever, and two FV40 lottery tickets.

Conley's going to cost $4.5 the next two seasons and has a lot less mileage. Track record be damned.

Pay the ransom or keep him longterm.

Cubs can't afford Conley but Hou/Philly can. Just depends on if they are willing to pay

        Hou-Conley
        Mia-Corbin Martin/Jonathan Arauz/2 of Adcock,Toro-Hernandez,Josh James,mid level guy they like

Alzolay and Lange could get it done with Chicago, especially if they throw in another guy. That's like adding Neidert and Gallen to the system. I think we'd all consider that a win for Conley to spread out the risk among multiple arms versus paying Conley $10 million for 4 years. No rush to move him though. It'll play itself out over the next week.

Practically, I'd love to move Barraclough, Dietrich, Ziegler, Castro, and Maybin and get another projectable 3/4 SP ala Neidert, a lefty reliever to throw in that mix, a long(er) term backup catcher, and cash relief. Anything else is gravy.

          • SF has called around to a few teams trying to unload salary(Pence) with prospects.

Miami has some interest but nothing serious yet. Pence and prospects for Maybin?

It could but Alzolay has been out since May with arm injury and De La Cruz is suspended.

They could offer SS Ademan,Lange OR Hatch,C Amaya and I would listen if was only offer but think the offer could be beat easily

Cubs have Lange,Hatch,Clifton as mid level arms but wouldn't be into them as best thing in the offer

Maybe get some of the guys they wanted in the Stanton deal?

Doubtful. Well maybe Chris Shaw but I wouldn't want Beede,Garcia and they wouldn't do Ramos

I doubt they will even do this but Marlins are looking at it as are teams like KC,TB and others. I just mentioned it because its nice to see us willing to add salary to get some prospects and are willing to add money in deals to get better ones finally

SF is trying to add onto team while staying under tax line

That's a great trade for the Rays, and a great comp for the Marlins for their relievers.

Beeks is exactly the kind of guy the Marlins should get. See if they get a Caleb Smith breakout, and a future "Conley" if it doesn't work out.

TLDR - He's throwing harder, changeup and slider are coming around, and his pitch sequencing is predictable so he can get better throwing more changeups and sliders earlier in count - "massive chamber of potential."
The Marlins got rid of Brad Hand only to end up creating another Brad Hand.

Can't believe what teams are paying for rentals. In years past u would get barely anything now u get a #15 prospect for 2 months?

What is #15? Beeks was the Red Sox #6 prospect entering the year, and more importantly as who cares about organizational ranks, a FV45 guy having a kind of breakout year in AAA with the K rate explosion. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-...oston-red-sox/

I feel teams are feeling the fire to win now with 4-5 super teams in the AL and they all have the same windows. They gotta go for it and blow out the farm, like the Mejia deal which is still crazy.

He is #15 on MLB.com. #6 makes it even crazier
