My biggest fear is all the faith in this new group. I understand being happy Loria is gone and that things needed to change. However if J.T. doesn't resign who do they build this team around? Anderson could be a part of a rebuild but not someone to build this team around and I don't really see anyone in the system right now that would be considered that player. We still know very little as to what this group is going to do.

I am not saying I don't think they should trade these guys. They have to get maximum return in all the ones that are under control for multiple years and not trade for depth players like in their earlier trades.

I also don't understand all the faith in Alcantara. He was average in the minors this year I am still not sure he will even be able to stay a starter in the future. They have a few guys who could be major league starters in the minors but they are far from a sure thing.
I agree with this, and it’s why I’d really like to keep JT long-term. Other than JT, there’s nothing close to resembling a franchise player right now. I really hope JT buys in to the building process.

that is by far the #1 question this team needs to and obviously will figure out over the coming months. Him deciding to re-sign is a franchise altering move as far as the rebuild is concern. But trading him also has the potential to be as well. Him re-signing though would just be enormous.

          • Can we trade Barraclough before the rest of baseball realizes he’s not a dominant reliever?

            • Barraclough was horrific that inning.

good news is his value isnt going to differ significantly between now and the deadline.

              • Even if he doesn't blow this I would say a trip to the DL is in his future with pitch 40 of the inning.

Should’ve traded him after the month of June.

I don’t think you can see anything from a mile away to be honest.

                        • Disgusting performance be Barraclough. Get him out of here ASAP.

                            • I was at the Trop this weekend and man today's loss hurts. Everyone could see that was coming for Bearclaw and Mattingly didn't do anything. I don't get that. It could've been our first sweep in 35 series and it hurts Claw's value and arm.

I don’t think 1 bad outing hurts his value. He clearly didn’t have it today. Perhaps it had something to do with his illness.
