I think you can say that for everyone except Maybin and Ziegler, but yea sure.

The problem might be only Colorado needs a 1B/DH among contenders. If one can consider Colorado a contender in the first place.

DD has moved into Bour's spot among teams. Big reason is Bour is 1B/DH while DD is same with bat but can play OF/3B/2B/1B/DH

Peanuts(low level prospect) will be Maybin,Ziegler,Holaday. Yes Holaday has about 2/3 teams interested in him as a backup C.Milwaukee/Houston

McCann just announced out 6+ weeks.

I think they need quite a bigger upgrade then Holaday, and I know just the guy who is worth Tucker.

Shouldn't deal- JT if he has any inclination towards staying. They really need to figure him out soon though and decide either way because the worst thing possible to do would be to wait and then trade him when his value is at his lowest. Bour because I dont think he has much value on the market and I think you just let him play out his deal given our organizational depth right now at 1b, his low market value, and his impact in the lineup. Steckenrider because while i think relievers are very easy to find and therefore should be dealt in a situation like ours, he is still making the minimum and he hasnt had the type of impact YET that I think he can have and will therefore make him more valuable on the trade market in the future.

Depends on if we get blown away- Straily (value isnt as high anymore due to his struggles), Urena, Conley (always had the profile of a potential dominant reliever. Don't deal him too early. see what you have in him because he isnt going to get you a huge return now and has the potential to be a dominant type lefty reliever in the mold of Miller or Hand).
Straily is in the must deal because the SP market is bad and lots of team need 1. They won't be giving him away but aren't asking for tons either so he could be a cheaper options than Hamels/Fulmer/DeGrom

          SP 2019(ML Guys/Ready)-Chen,Straily,Urena,Richards,Alcantara,Lopez,Garcia ,Peters,Gallen with Neidert close. 10 guys for 5 spots

I agree but Houston refuses to pay the price for JT at this point. FO has been standing firm on JT so far saying this is what we want and if not we will wait till Winter Meetings

If they can get Mejia or Ruiz in a Bearclaw deal than maybe they come off Kyle Tucker but doubtful

          • Is there any legitimate source out there saying that the Marlins have offered JT a contract extension? I haven’t seen one. Some of you are assuming he won’t sign here at all, but I haven’t seen anything. Hard to believe that a CATCHER (high injury probability) THREE YEARS AWAY from free agency has zero interest in a contract extension. I’m going to go with nothing has been offered.

He requested a trade pretty publicly. I find it hard to believe the Marlins haven't broached signing him longterm. He's clearly a building block.

I agree with you on a rationality spectrum - also don't forget he lost his arb case, is making $2.9, and next season isn't guaranteed to double let alone triple that number - but if he plays like this, not many 5-6 WAR catchers get to free agency under 30 years old. He will make a fortune if he holds up. Ozuna made a choice to aim for free agency and maybe Realmuto feels the same way and bet on himself being awesome.

I think he should sign a 4 year extension worth a lot more then S. Perez (current high comp who got around $50 million for same years). Works for everyone and lets him be a FA in his prime. I would hope Realmuto sees the enormous talent influx coming and clean payroll (besides himself of course if he signs). But, attendance is also 7k and that can't be that fun?

Barry Jackson’s latest Sports Buzz column is all about the Marlins at the deadline. Nothing really new, though in regard to a J.T. contract extension, Jackson’s wording makes it read like the Marlins have not yet offered one.

Wow. If that's true, seriously WTF and I stand corrected.

What does JT need to do to get an offer? Pay the man.

                  • I think thats more semantics than anything else. A formal offer probably hasnt been made but im sure theyve made it known they want to re-sign him and he has made it known he doesnt want to do that.

I know you're all about giving the new administration the benefit of the doubt, but I don't see how you could possibly assume what I've bolded. We need some kind of track record to make that kind of assumption. If we were going by the previous administration's track record then we could assume that they almost certainly would not have made it known they want to re-sign him at this point.

                      • Fair enough, but I think the front office knows they either need to re sign him or trade him and I just think the “have officially offered him a contract” is whoever is leaking the discussions or lack there of just playing semantics. I’m sure each side knows each sides intentions

                        • Urena activated from the DL today, Alcantara placed on 10-day DL.

                          • Is it weird that of all of our relievers, Conley might be the one I'd be most interested in holding onto? He reminds me of Andrew Miller in his path to being a great reliever, and he really has been very good. And I think his value is the lowest right now, so I'd rather cash out on the two others, that may be at their peak value.

                            • Can someone explain to me Pablo Lopez pinch hitting in the 6th when Dietrich and Rivera have yet to be used?

And also why our announcers didn't bat a fucking eye when this happened?

Maybe he doesn't want to engage in contract negotiations during the season?
