You just wrote that the Marlins needed more acquisitions like Caleb Smith! Brigham is younger than Smith and was the Southern League's outstanding pitcher before going on the IL.

        15 innings above A-Ball.

        • I have been confused about some of Lee's prospect evals, but I do believe he nailed Caleb Smith. I hadn't really been a believer until today, but the guy can really pitch. If we can get two of our prospects to be as good as him and go out and sign on ace, we have a real rotation.

          • McCann on 10 Day with bad knee. Houston could ramp up JT pursuit?? Their C are Stassi/Federowicz

Still remember when we made the trade and people were crying about the $250,000 in IFA we gave up.

Mike King is actually looking great for NYY but we got 2 ML players in the deal

Problem with Brigham is he is likely a RP/LR type in the Majors and that is even if he can make it. The guy has talent but picks up 2 or 3 injuries a year

Why do you do this? Are you calling somebody out? Or are you talking about people from other boards/forums, and if so who gives a shit?

I am calling out the people who cried when the trade was made even more after the Braves guys got released and now that Caleb Smith looks good act like they were always good with it.

Doubt Houston's a player for Realmuto. No real desperation on their part, especially with Stassi hitting as well as JT in the early going. (1.2 WAR after just 80 ab)

I always followed King at GB last year. He was solid if unspectacular. In fairness to NY, they saw something in the much younger King and shot him right up to A+ where he actually was pretty great over 40 innings. Now he's acclimating to AA.

Ya but u always take the ML guy over the minor league guy. Never know if King gets hurt or something?

U can play JT at C/1B/DH. McCann and Gattis won't be around longer. I dont think they get in on him but another team in is always good

Caleb was hardly a ML guy - he got trashed badly during an 18-inning look with the Yankees (something like 8 ERA). What he had was 100 fabulous AAA innings last summer. That plus he was a southpaw.

So who are you talking about? I don't remember anybody here being up in arms about that deal.

I think the discussion at the time revolved around that it looked to be a "same old Marlins" deal, throwing away the IFA money - money that would've gone to that guy that was out there (I think his name was Juan Martinez or something like that?) and I think the Yankees were trying to acquire/use it to go after Ohtani.

It's worked out well for us, but could've just as easily been throwing away money if it didn't pan out. I don't know why it's a big deal that some people had a differing opinion then.

                          • Wasn't the IFA signing period mostly passed at that point? So our options were limited with what we could do with that $250K anyway?

Ya was part of what I was talking about. People were saying they should have kept the space to go after Martinez or Braves guys and they don't care that Smith and Cooper are ML guys but now the same ones are talking up Caleb Smith like they loved the deal

Not a big deal just confused as to how people say one thing but then say something totally different. Its the same with Zac Gallen-people shit on him during ST/not near ready and now the same people mention how they always liked him/he should be up in the Majors right now HAHA

We had 1.75 million left traded 1 million for Chris Torres(Seattle) and 250K for Smith/Cooper which left us with like 500K which we have now spent(Signed a few guys past few months)

                              • If we're going to have Dietrich and Anderson both in the lineup with one at 3rd base and one in the OF, I'd rather see Anderson in the OF and Dietrich at 3rd.

That catch by Brinson was unreal.
