  • it is abundantly clear the lee just does not understand the concepts of sample size or context of numbers. It's why he doesnt understand that 27 year old's putting up good numbers in the minor leagues doesnt make a player a cant miss prospect.

The fun thing with Lee is, 95% of all the ludicrous things he says about the farm system are going to be wrong.

Then Ben Meyer is going to become a good # 4 starter and we're never going to hear the fucking end of it.

      • i think ben meyer actually could become a good reliever. he wont be a starter though.

        • Steck,Wittgren,Guerrero,Jarlin,Urena are likely going nowhere because of control

Bearclaw is 50/50. If they get a nice deal he is gone but they are as happy keeping him

He is objectively having a very nice season even with the sample size. Needs to whiff some more dudes but one hell of a jump skipping AA. Good for him.

Definitely a guy Loria would trade for a backup catcher and turns into an asset somewhere else.

Jeff would include him in a deal for a 35 yr old OF. Meyer is likely RP in Majors next year.

Interesting arm is Joey Gunk(Joe Gunkel). He was a solid prospect till LY when he looked like crap.

Totally. I would put Urena 50/50 (they have him 4, versus 5 years for the others) as long as they can get legitimate SP innings elsewhere. That's up to Ca. Smith, Jarlin, Peters, Gallen, and Alcantara being a rotation that isn't atrocious come July.

                Either way, doesn't matter.

                • speaking of loria, im telling you guys, go listen to that podcast with mish. it's absolutely absurd and i think the stuff he talked about is partially why mike hill is still here.

                  • They have ALOT of decisions to make over the next year on arms.

I think they would trade Urena(I just don't think they get any solid offers)

Been saying it for years!!! Havent listened to it but imagine some stories are teams called Jeff and did trades with him(Many stories around MLB about it). They would call DJ and he would be like Hell NO. Then they would call Jeff and he was like Yes do it now

Totally. But he does have a 3.75 FIP right now, K rate took a big jump, BB are down big time. He's seemingly gotten better since last year, but we'll see what this looks like in another 100 innings. If he has a 4.00 ERA at the deadline with matching peripherals, and offers 3+ years of control, there will be a believer in him somewhere. Alternatively, I'm happy to pencil that into the longterm # 4/5 also.

Either way, a nice surprise so far he's not getting rock and rolled like his 5.20 FIP last year suggests.

                      • Miami's #1 prospect should be Chris Paddack. We're going to see the evolution of a star over the next few years ... in San Diego. Gave him up for a couple months of Rodney.

                        • Yup, one was last year in august we had a trade for Ellis to the rockies for a prospect and we split his remaining money. They agreed, then samson said no they should pay all of it, so no deal ended up happening, we ended up payign all of Ellis' contract, and didnt get a prospect back, then didn't re-sign him in the offseason

Urena is Alcantara plus a changeup and movement on his fastball.

U are telling me AJ Ellis was traded then they said NO? Ya kept trying to tell u guys 3 teams were in on him. Mike Hill had a few deals done LY but couldn't do anything because of $ and no clue who the owner was gonna be

Paddock for Rodney was a Jeff Loria Special by the way. One of the deals where he did it ALL himself

yup, because the rockies wouldnt pay the entire contract, so we ended up paying his entire contract AND not getting a prospect for him. we really showed them.

And another thing they said was that they knew they could get steals from us based on prospects not being on baseball america lists because they knew loria read those and relied on them heavily. Im guessing thats a francis martes special.
