  • Peters sent down. He will be back when Chen goes back on DL(2 or 3 more starts)

No clue why Tyler Cloyd is up still? Hasnt pitched in awhile and when he did he got killed.(He will be gone when Elieser comes up) Elieser moves in LR role and will pitch sometimes. Its more about making sure he is on ML roster for 90 days

because its better to have a guy like Tyler Cloyd up and eating meaningless innings out of the bullpen and having your SP prospects actually starting pitching in the minors until, wait for it, they fully prove that they are not starters. Peters wouldnt be pitching much up here anyways. Cloyd will be gone soon anyways. He's almost never pitched anyways even before he went on the paternity list.

I know that I am saying why not just DFA and add Jumbo Diaz or someone who could help. Cloyd is terrible

Its all mute by next week cause ELieser has to come up

        • Didn't we re-sign McGowan? Could have sworn I saw that. He was a perfectly adequate long-guy for us the last couple of years.

i agree but ya it'll work itself out soon enough anyways cause Hernandez will be up here probably after his next rehab start. Jumbo diaz has been pretty bad in his own right too. 10 walks in 11 innings.

And yes we did re-sign mcgowan but i havent seen anything from him since and even his MILB page still lists him as with the rays so who knows.

We have plenty of prospects who we could bring up to come out of the bullpen but i think we just want to let them keep starting. I think ben meyer will eventually be a really good reliever for us.

Yep we have McGowan and Sean Burnett in the minors. McGowan is going thru his ST routine right now and should be up in NOLA soon

              • Burnett just came off the DL too so i think he could be up soon if we have an opeining

                • Btw, Marcell ozuna has completely regressed like it was fairly obvious he would after he performed last season way above anything he's ever done. He'll obviously regress back to his normal numbers before the end of the season, but for the first time we finally sold high on a guy.

                  • or he had a bad month.

Also, if that return is what selling high is, I'm not liking the chances of this rebuild.

A rotation piece and a very good closer and an elite defender 4th of is the bare minimum we got, with the possibility of 2 very good rotation pieces, a starting of, and bullpen arm as the maximum. This idea that they fleeced us is kind of ridiculous. Still wish we got flaherty but this idea that they bent us over in this trade is just ridiculous at this point

I think his floor is a very good reliever and his ceiling is a #2 starter, what do you think his floor is?

                          • I could very easily seeing it playing out much like Andrew Miller did years back. Who was a similarly lauded prospect. Where he was pretty much terrible for us, we get rid of him, some genius team decides to try him at reliever and he becomes one of the top relievers in the game.

Not saying it'll play out exactly like that for Alcantara, I'm just saying I could see it taking quite a long time for him to turn his talent into results, and will we/do we have the patience to let it happen.

Fair enough. but miller was much more highly rated as a prospect. he was a top 10-15 prospect in baseball.

Ya Hernandez is starting in AA tonight so id assume hes back after this rehab start.

Alcantara's floor is a AAA pitcher with close to a 4 ERA. He faces exactly the same issues that he always did: lack of command. He appears to be a poor man's Brian Ellington.

Sierra the same. A slap hitter who doesn't get on base enough. His floor is right where he is: underperforming in AAA.

Gallen is doing better but has a ways to go. Lacking a plus pitch, he'll always walk a tightrope.

The Thomas Jones/Lazaro Alonso saga in Greensboro is amazing. With three homers each in a span of a few games, they have surpassed their entire HR output from the 2017 season at Batavia.
