are Eric Wagaman, Matt Mervis, Derek Hill, and Jonah Bride players that he is dying to build around? If you cant find ways to make Jazz, Arraez, and Burger useful pieces, that's a bendix issue. No one is saying he needed to build around them as the main stars. No one is arguing that they are top level talents (though i have a good feeling jazz is going to put it all together and really become a star in NY surrounded by actual talent in that lineup), but they are useful, productive pieces that can be a good starting point to start adding to. Trading them all for nothing certainly doesnt help.

This is why you can never be taken seriously. Do you have some special power that NO OTHER PERSON ON EARTH has where you can look into the future and determine that the Marlins traded them all for nothing?

And Bendix isn’t building around Wagaman, Bride, Mervis and Hill. You know that. They’re just a part of another (admittedly) extremely frustrating (but very likely) necessary rebuild because of a broke dick owner, terrible drafting and injuries.

give me a break with the prospect hope trafficking bullshit. That got old about 5 years ago when all hope rested on Brinson, Harrison, Sixto, Diaz, Cabrera, Rogers, Lewin Diaz, Burdick, Victor Victor Mesa, etc. It's a way for the organization to get you to look the other way for a future that never comes while they trot out terrible team after terrible team with an embarassing payroll year after year.. Bendix also doesnt have any sort of special power to evaluate talent. They traded an entire team of veteran talent outside of Sandy and dont have a single consensus top 50 prospect to show for it that wasnt already here. Bendix has not done a single thing to earn any benefit of the doubt that he has any ability to pick talent. The headliner of the arraez trade immediately needed major hip surgery and isnt top 100. Jazz went off in New york the second he was traded and we got a guy in Ramirez who is promising but not consensus top 100 guy and might not stick at C. Our farm system is still middling. This is not a better option than keeping those guys around and rebuilding on the fly and not decimating this market even further.

The complete tear down rebuild was not necessary. As ive said numerous times, this is not a better option. Being mediocre with some proven major league talent and a bad farm is a much better option than a truly possibly historically awful team with a mediocre farm system. There is nothing to look forward to in the entire organization.

Well, we know what needs to be done.
If anyone running the league actually gave a shit about the health of the league, they'd strip the team from him.

Because the "veteran" talent you are so hung up on either weren't very good or had massive injury issues.

They were productive major league players. I also wouldn’t say jazz had “massive injury issues”. He got hurt in very dumb and reckless ways

                • Happy that baseball is back and happy to spend time with family at the ballpark today. Fully expecting loss #1 of 100 today obviously.

                  • Graham Pauley is indeed starting. No Wagyu Man.

                    • I actually like Graham pauley's potential, but him being in the big leagues is likely doing him a disservice, as brief as it may be. He is probably our best 3b prospect in a while though outside of Anderson. His numbers his first two years in the minors were really impressive, the padres just rushed him from A+ to AAA with just 81 ab's in AA in the middle to end 2023. He could really benefit from some more minor league time but he is a potential piece. One of few.

Guy was dominant, got injured and was never the same. Another victim of the Marlins Pitching Injury Epidemic.

his dominance lasted 70 innings over 15 starts in 1 year. Lee just loved a small sample size. He was dominant that year though.

The dude jumped straight to AA after being drafted, and was fucking lights out. There was reason to be excited.

not trying to diminish that year but yes, while that was his first actual minor league action, that's only because they cancelled the minor league season that covid year. He signed right after the draft and pitched in unofficial minor league games from July of that year right after the draft until he made that AA debut a month into the 2021 season. But ya he was impressive and the TJ derailed his career.
