              • Happy for Jon Berti and two dingers, but have to question his play at short where he slow-played a routine ground ball by Turang into a hit and subsequently a run off Cabrera. Turang is out 99% of the time on that ball and it should have been scored as an error.

Would appreciate everyday duty and a spot at the top of the batting order for X Edwards. Anyone realize that he basically hit .350 during every single month of the minor league year at JAX?

I see that Chris Paddack is about to pitch for the Twins after a long recovery from surgery. Sure wish the Marlins could have worked him into the Pablo trade. Would Alcantara have gotten Arraez, Paddack and Royce Lewis from the Twins?

                • huge week ahead, it all comes down to 6 games. It's pretty crazy how much this season has been overshadowed for almost literally the entire year by the other teams in this area. When the season began you had the absurd runs by Miami and FAU in the ncaa tournament, then you had the heat and panthers miracle runs, then messi shows up in town, and now every sunday you have the borderline sexual experience that is watching the dolphins. Some of the only time we have had to this team alone in this market has been the time after the all star break that they played some of the worst baseball all year. Especially crazy given the fact that the teams who are making these crazy runs have for the most part been beyond irrelevant for like 20-25 years.

They definitely need a SS answer next year, but I mean what else are they gonna do right now?

Out of 589 players in baseball this year with over 25 PA, Edwards ranks 584 out of 589 in average exit velocity. He's a puppy and this is a SSS, but may explain why he was down so long as he isn't driving anything and that may filter out at the MLB level versus AAA. Still, I'd play him more than they are to see what happens as this is a very very SSS. To also mention, a few solid players (Most notably Andres Gimenez, and then Estuery Ruiz, Jason Delay, Sal Frelick, David Fletcher, historically anyways) are living around that exit velocity this year so it's not casting him into the pit if this is all he will do, but he's likely going to need to drive the ball a bit more, become a non-whiff freak like Arraez, become an outrageously valuable base runner like Ruiz, or improve some defense, or some subtle combination of all of those, to make it longterm. Hopefully it's just a getting his feet wet lack of any kind of driving ability, but I get keeping him down a bit more now that we are getting some exposure.

I feel pretty comfortable with Garrett, Garrett, Luzardo, Cabrera (looks good!), and likely a one time through Eury set up. We are definitely going to see Hoeing, Cueto, and Weathers probably each pitch 1 time through though pretty soon. Pray for garbage time.

obviously the exit velocity needs to improve and he needs to get stronger, but there is still a role like you said given the way he affects the game in other ways. The biggest thing for him is to become an elite or above average defensive 2b. If he can do that with his clear incredible plate discipline, his speed on the basepaths, and the way that he appears to be just one of those guys like arraez who is a pure hitter, there is a role here for him. I think he will do it, he was showing that ability in AAA. Last year he had 5 hr's in AAA, and this year he had 7. In his career the 3 years prior, he had 6 total. He will never be like Arraez where i think a small swing tweak could get him to 15-20 hr's a year, but i think there is enough power to be a super high OBP leadoff guy with limited power but enough pure hitting ability and speed to be an every day guy. Time will tell, but i think there is more than enough talent and game outside of the subpar power where he can be a 2-3 WAR guy as a starter at 2b. I think he needs to be an everyday guy at 2b next year leading off with Arraez right behind him, and Bell at DH. I imagine next year the lineup should be (barring a huge addition at SS and C), some form of Edwards, Arraez, Bell, Jazz, Burger. That's a really interesting group of pure hitters, some speed, and big time power. They really need to get a SS who can hit 20-25 hr's though.

eury is done for the year. not confirmed, but he tweaked his shoulder and they wont risk that to get housed by the brewers. I wouldnt. Ive said all along, if he has fatigue or an injury, you shut him down. He was commenting on how long the season was last week, and then goes down with a shoulder injury. Maybe the 2 were related, but you cant risk it now. Shut him down, send Sandy to dr andrews, hope eury builds up the innings next year, and then let them both loose in 2025.

                          • im not sure if arraez is done for the week, but by the looks of it i would be very surprised if he plays in the next few games. The stupid lights show when scott came in caused him to tweak the ankle even worse, and he got on the plane to go to NY last night wearing a walking boot. if he does play, it needs to be at DH. cant risk him getting even more hurt. unfortunately that means Soler and Bell in the field, but those are the cards we've been dealt.
