ah yes, the 13 at bat sample size over the 6 year career of Freddy Peralta definitely justifies benching one of our best hitters in a crucial game in favor of a guy who homered off peralta 4 full seasons ago. Brilliant strategy.

Here is how those numbers break down- 2 PA's in 2018, 5 in 2019, 1 in 2020, 3 in 2021, 2 in 2022, and 2 this year. The 1 game gurriel had against him came in the best year of his career when he hit .298 with an .884 OPS, 31 hr's, 40 2b's and 104 RBI. For comparison, this year gurriel is hitting .246 with a .661 OPS, 16 2b's, 3 HR's, and 23 RBI. In the 2nd half so far, Gurriel has hit .198 with a .507 OPS and 0 hr's. Bell has hit .266 with an .806 OPS, and 11 HR's.

It gets lost in the shuffle of the awful Yelich return but when it's all said and done the Realmuto return is just as bad.

Looking at more video of sixto, he is done or still very injured. 0 follow through and confidence in that shoulder. That’s why every video of him looks like he is not trying as hard as possible and why his velocity is shit. He doesn’t have anything left in that shoulder. Look at the k he had where he did the stupid shimmy, he doesn’t follow through at all. He used to throw with a violence, now he’s throwing like his shoulder hurt and the velocity is down 16 mph from where he was last time he pitched. Go look at the difference in the follow through and clear confidence with which he pitched in some 2020 highlights. Stallings throws harder now

I’m not sure what Cabrera does to prepare for his appearances. He is consistently starting his outings with 0 feel for his pitches but then looking unhittable. He’s going to be good, but he needs to mature and develop to reach that potential

There was no reason to tender him a contract after last season. The fact that he is taking an at bat in a meaningful September game is awful management and awful managing. Skip has had an awful second half. Just horrific
